daisyday33 Posted October 21, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2012 I just printed my Carnival Luggage Tags and read the print on the side, which says "EACH SUITCASE SHOULD NOT WEIGH MORE THAN 50 POUNDS AND NOT EXCEED 24" W X 16" H". We only have 40 lbs. packed but our suitcase happens to be 28" (I hate to go buy a new one; we already have this one and it is in fine shape). Has anyone used a larger suitcase and had a problem? bruisin4cruisin Posted October 21, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2012 You are good. There was a thread on this exact thing 2 days ago. They do not want folks breaking the backs of the porters with 90lb 65 x 80 suitcases.
Bulldog3777 Posted October 21, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2012 We have always taken several larger than 24". Never taken one that small.

jayscore Posted October 21, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2012 DW and I both use 26" suitcases, and keep them under 50#. This way we are "safe" with most airline requirements, and save our backs! We never had a problem with this arrangement, so far......
S.S. Cruisers Posted October 21, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 21, 2012 25'over here and no problems!:) I'm sorry, it's early here on the west coast but a 25 foot suitcase would definately hurt the backs of the porters!:)
ferfoodle Posted October 21, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2012 I just printed my Carnival Luggage Tags and read the print on the side, which says "EACH SUITCASE SHOULD NOT WEIGH MORE THAN 50 POUNDS AND NOT EXCEED 24" W X 16" H". They aren't including the length in the size capacity. x" L X x" W X x" H. The longest dimension on a suit case is the length, the next is the width and the third the heigth. Your 28" is most likely the length - measure the other two directions and I bet one is less than or at 24" and the other is less than or at 16". ready2cruzagain Posted October 21, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2012 My suitcase is 30"x22"x12" and we take two that size. There is no limit on the length. Here is a link to the discussion the other day with a good answer at the bottom that shows how to measure your suitcases. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1724957
ready2cruzagain Posted October 21, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2012 25' over here and no problems!:) LOL Lois I don't think it is 25'...if it is...can't wait to see the porter carrying it!
wrigley80 Posted October 21, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 21, 2012 24'' would still be considered a carry-on size by the airlines. We always bring two 29'' suitcases and one carry-on. We have never had a problem at the port.....now the airport is a different story because we always seem to be overweight when we return. I guess its probably all those t-shirts that I buy while on vacation
Vettebuf Posted October 21, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 21, 2012 We use 24" spinners and love them - not too big, not too small, just right (for us!) unless we have to pay. Then we use our 22" rolling carry-ons and put more thinking into what we bring.
copper6606 Posted October 21, 2012 #12 Share Posted October 21, 2012 We always take 2 - 30" suitcases and 1 carryon. The weigh is always right on 40lbs [i get it right to the pound as I refuse to pay overweight fees. I typically don't do a lot of shopping when I'm away but if I do... I always have a fold up bag that I can use as a second carryon if I happen to need it!;)
Room Service! Posted October 21, 2012 #13 Share Posted October 21, 2012 Ours are also larger. No problems.
crusinpsychRN Posted October 21, 2012 #14 Share Posted October 21, 2012 I just looked at the tags I printed yesterday, all at the same time, to see the same size restriction. Good thing I did b/c 2 of them were in gobbledegook and had the wrong cabin number! Carnival Legend was" Dbsojubm Mfhfoe" and I was on deck BGUQ!!! Guest LoveMyBoxer Posted October 21, 2012 #15 Share Posted October 21, 2012 Those dimensions that they publish is if you're not flying and want to carry your luggage onboard without having to check it in with the porters. The reason they only give you the width and height is because it can pass through the x-ray scanner.
starfish216 Posted October 21, 2012 #16 Share Posted October 21, 2012 I think the measurements given are for the width and depth of the suitcase, this is so it can fit through the scanners. The length shouldn't matter. Enjoy your cruise.
