Drink special in November

Recommended Posts

I just called myself Celebrity and spoke with Customer Service after reading the posting and after being placed on hold for about 5 mins. the gentleman came back and reported that yes indeed this is a valid promotion that will begin on November 12, 2012.

He gave me the telephone number for the Cruise Enhancement Specialist desk ( 800-398-9819) and said to call them directly on/or after November 12th.

In my case, since I have already purchased packages for our B2B cruises, they will probably have to cancel them by refunding my credit card, and then recharging the packages with the 10% discounted price.

He also said that anyone who was on Celebrity's email should/will be receiving this promotional offer.

I want to thank the othermike, as well as marlin girl, for sharing the information they received with us. :D

Do you need a code or is it automatically applied?

The customer service rep did not mention having to use a code, nor does one appear in the OP's pasting of the information, so I assume you just need to mention the email or the 10% to them.

I have the feeling that when I call them on Nov 12th they are going to cancel the packages that I have already paid for, and then recharge me as a new package with the discount being applied.

I just spoke with "Celebrity Cruise Enhancements", and the specialist said this special can be booked on board when you arrive on the ship. I guess the moral of the story is: Wait till you board, there could be specials abound. On our last cruise aboard Solstice I got the 10% off the premium package, as well as a discounted specialty dining package of 5 dinners that was 20% off.

You must be able to book it in advance because the special is only bookable between 12-25Nov. but it's for sailings up to 31Dec. So you must be able to book it in advance. I'm going to to onto their website on 12Nov. and see if it's there. If not, I'll call their Cruise Enhancement Specialist desk ( 800-398-9819) and have them book it.

It's a good deal!

As I recall from the last 10% promotion, when you go into your cruise personaliser and select beverage packages, the new discounted price is shown for your cruise and the 15% gratuity added on top of that.

I don't think there was even a mention of the discount at all on that page, as I remember working the normal price out to see whether price shown included the discount.

alliebrandy, why don't you just cancel your beverage packages online and purchase them again when the promotion is on? :)

Do you have any idea of what a normal drink, example vodka tonic, not to shelf, a glass of red wine basic wine, not super expensive (premium) and a beer costs? Trying to figure out promo package vs. regular prices on the cruise. We have no idea of what the pricing will be, feel like it is higher than other cruise lines??

We had the premium alcohol package so didn't take too much notice how much spirits were, but wine was from around $6 glass upwards, beer from around $5. Martinis (at Martini bar) were $10 all plus 15%. This was last year so I expect they will have increased.

If you roughly add up your daily drinks, including water, juices and speciality coffees, that should give you a good idea whether it is worth it or not.

We're having the non alcohol package this time and paying for alcohol as we go, as we drank far too much on the package, so it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Whether you can wait or not depends on when you are cruising. If you are cruising in December, it looks like you still need to book by 11/24, right? Just want to make sure I understand

If you pull up this thread:

I believe you will see a recent photo showing the prices of some drinks on the Summit this past September. The poster was librarylady19 and she was giving her review of cruise to Bermuda. I believe you can get an idea of the costs to assist you in your decision.

I do plan on canceling my packages and re-purchasing them. I am going to wait first to compare the difference first though as well as seeing if I get the email.

Since we are doing a B2B - Dec. 21, 2012 and then Dec 31, 2012 - we figure we will be save a bit and be able to indulge a little more in something else on the trips.

I know what that feels like, we had the premium and have dropped to the classic as the next cruise is longer (11 nights and we felt like our livers needed a break after 7 nights drinking (never really drunk but never really sober either).

How will that make you drink less?

I could dropping to a non alcohol you will drink less

Hmm... I thought about that, but it is too limiting re wines and Martinis, so decided to get the non alcohol for water, juices and coffee and pay for the alcohol. We were still pondering it right up to the 4 day cut off online, but we've finally purchased the non alcohol for our cruise on Sunday. We have lots of sea days this cruise so if we find we are spending more than the package price, we may upgrade to premium alcohol for the last few days.

We absolutely loved the package last time but our wine glasses were never empty and the Martinis were overflowing so after 14 days we didn't want to see another single drink . It took us quite a long time to recover after the cruise and I don't want to feel like that again, as tempting as it is.

I'll report back after the cruise as to how it works out.

By the time we have got our water and coffees you have almost made up the price and will nort feel like you need to drink more to get you value of $55 a day.

BTW, we have been told that you could get mini Martinis on the classic package.:D

We are thinking of doing this on our cruise, trying to justify the price. Do you have any idea of the price of a glass of wine, a mixed drink, example vodka and tonic and a beer? I had not thought about the water and special coffees. Have no idea of the pricing on the Celebrity drinks. We did the Galapagos last year and it was all inclusive, we really did not drink that much on there. I guess when you say over $500 each, we are trying to justify it. We will be off of the ship in Dunedin for the overnight so not sure? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Mary and Jim

If there is not a special, I won't book it. Being a gambling man, I'll wait till the day of embarkation. But I always watch Celebrity's website weekly for specials. It has generally paid off. On each cruise aboard Celebrity we have got premium beverage and/or specialty dining packages at a discount.;)
