Clipper123 Posted November 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2012 Is there a lot of noise around the elevator lobbies? Considering a cabin directly outside elevator lobby (7400 Carnival Conquest) or further down the hall away from the elevator (7358). I'm thinking we will probably have more traffic going by 7400 but on the upside it would be nice to step off the elevator and have our cabin right there. Anyone had a cabin close to elevators before and was it really any noiser than further down the hall?
cb at sea Posted November 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2012 Most ships have the elevators in a foyer....noise is seldom an issue. Being near stairs and elevators is very convenient.....you'll understand when you see how looooooooong the hallways are!
MAGNUM PI Posted November 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2012 If I select a mid-ship cabin, I always choose one-near the elevators, for the convenience. Noise has never been a problem; cabins positioned down hallways, while elevators in a foyer. However, twice I have booked cabins, at the very aft of the cruise ship.(Very desirable location, IMO). Yes, there is a relatively long walk to access the elevators. Unless you have a physical impairment, who doesn't benefit from walking and exercise? There is virtually no foot traffic, past your aft cabin door. So, my first choice of a cabin is: 1. Aft cabin. 2. Mid-ship near elevators. KirkNC Posted November 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2012 I would pick near but not on top of the elevator.
OCruisers Posted November 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2012 We LOVE this location! Being close to elevators has been all good ... no bad ... for us. ~~~~
memeno1 Posted November 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2012 We had a cabin near an elevator and stairs and liked being close. There was no issue with noise.
Gunner22aa Posted November 14, 2012 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2012 One bad experience with a couple of very intoxicated individuals arguing at the elevator was enough for us. Don't mind the walk so we are now as far away as possible on the very aft of the ship
serene56 Posted November 15, 2012 #8 Share Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) on this class'of ship we book 7411. 7400 is a'cabin or two away from the elevator. we have had the above cabin 4 times. for one its cheaper then the one you are looking at. i have no across the hall neighbors. that gray area is where they store'the fire doors. out my door and to the stairs-up two decks for food, down 2 decks for'enetertainment Edited November 15, 2012 by serene56
retiring soon Posted November 26, 2012 #9 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Hi all! I'm thinking about going solo on Carnival Dream in an upper/lower cabin but the only ones available look to be right behind the elevators eg 6367 upper deck, 1404 Riviera. Anybody have any experience with this type cabin or location? Thanks in advance for any help. ~ Jo ~ :)

Everything is located in the aft-- except the main show lounge. the only "inconvenience" there is the wait for an elevator. this is the elevator that will get you to the aft dining room,

nolegirl01 Posted November 26, 2012 #12 Share Posted November 26, 2012 As far as noise we had no issues so it all depends on the convenience of it and if you want to walk or not...We went on the NCL Sky last year and booked an oceanview right next to the elevator and had no issues at all. I loved leaving my room and the elevator is right there, especially in the mornings when everyone is leaving their rooms for the ports or for disembarkation, you avoid the traffic in the hallways even though there is still traffic of people waiting to get on the elevator :p... I loved the location and don't mind the convenience. We just booked a room next to the elevator for our cruise in March :)

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted December 10, 2012 #15 Share Posted December 10, 2012 We generally book cabins close to elevators because of the convenience. We've never been bothered by the sound. Once on an older ship, we were booked near stairs and had to lisiten to thumping as folks seemed to stamp up amd down those stairs night and day. It actually sounded like suitcases were being thrown down the stairs the entire cruise. I swore I would never sail that ship again even though we were in a Junior Suite.
tapacuk Posted December 17, 2012 #16 Share Posted December 17, 2012 Just sailed on the NCL Sky. We had cabin 9263 which was literally right by the aft stairs/elevators. We were initially concerned, but it turned out to be really convenient. Noise never even came close to being an issue.
Happy ks Posted December 20, 2012 #17 Share Posted December 20, 2012 I don't mind a cabin close to the elevator, but would not book one adjacent to the elevator lobby. We had one, once, never again. It seemed every time we opened the door there were people peering into our cabin. A couple times they almost got to see one of us getting dressed (especially when one of us was returning to the cabin). It took a day or so, but we were really careful when opening the door the whole week, we'd knock first to let the other one know we were entering. It's human nature to glance when a door is opened, so I wasn't angry about it, it was just a PITA. I know I'll sometimes glance into an open cabin when walking by. Noise from the elevator has never been a problem for us.
carol louise Posted December 22, 2012 #18 Share Posted December 22, 2012 (edited) I agree with HappyKS, having had a similar experience on an NCL ship. We booked a cabin in a location like 7404 on Carnival Conquest (the OP's ship) and every time we opened our door, the cabin was on view to the whole length of the crosswise corridor, which includes people getting on and off the elevator or maybe even just standing there waiting. Though noise was never an issue, we had to be careful when we opened our cabin door knowing that there was very frequently someone right outside. spotgrey Posted January 14, 2013 #22 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Love cabins near elevators. We have never heard any noise from elevator area. If you don't like walking forever these are the cabins for you. We always try to get near elevators.
Packedready Posted January 18, 2013 #23 Share Posted January 18, 2013 I booked on a guarentee and felt that I got an upgrade when they put me on the 8th floor near an elevator. I was worried about being on the 4th floor that doesn't have an elevator only stairs. I usually try to get an upsell, but I didn't bother this time. Chileancruiser Posted April 14, 2013 #25 Share Posted April 14, 2013 My DW and I have settled in on room 9273 which is right in front of the elevator lobby on the Lido deck. Going into the cruise I was worrisome but after a few nights I found my reservations was unfounded. In fact sense it was such a high traffic area our door got so much exposure it was featured on the Cruise video for it's door decorations. Although on the next cruise I had to move a few doors down to have a room across from an interior that sleeps 4. Got to put those kids somewhere.
