2013 Identity Captain, Hotel Director, Concierge, etc.

NCL has been increasing the rotation to other ships. Initially, it appeared to be done to staff the Epic, Breakaway and Getaway.

It now seems there may be an additional component to break up any mindset "that's MY ship and replace it with "that's MY NCL"

 

Great comment - there are loads of changes coming up and this is going to happen as more ships are in service. The issue is that NCL will find it harder to find staff that have come from the old NCL school as more positions become available. Also as the economy improves more land based travel groups will be hiring top staff (and NCL has the BEST at the moment in the industry IMHO.

 

Read the accounts - NCL put it under the risk note about top staff!!!! They know it and this is something we are going to have get used to.

 

A sad fact but a realistic one.:(

This was for the 10/27/13 Cruise. There have been NCL changes since then.

For one, I'm pretty sure Captain Kostas Fafalios is now on vacation, so are there any updates for the 11/24/13 NCL Star? Maybe Captain Harstrom, just a guess. Could someone cruising now Post if Tony Winkler, Vikram(Maharajah)will still be there and who is the Captain & Staff Captain. Grateful if I hear Before we leave for Los Angeles! Thank You in Advance:)

I'm just curious, I've seen other threads with similar subjects. Why are passengers interested in knowing who the staff is in advance of sailing? If it was someone you didn't know or didn't like, would you change your cruise? Call me curious from California

 

No, it wouldn't change my mind one way or another. I know that most of the officers and staff do a wonderful job, of getting the ships and their passengers around safely.

There is 1 (maybe 2) who would cause me to think seriously about canceling a cruise if they were aboard.

 

But there are 5 or 6 who would motivate me to book the cruise just to sail with them again.

The entertainment on the cruise intrigues me more, although there are some staff members we love and enjoy sailing with, but we book according to date and itinerary , not staff . But if torn between two cruises, the entertainment could be a deciding factor

Capt. Lars Bengston (sp?) left the Jewel when we debarked on October 27th. I believe the Captains are on two months cycles. So that would have the current Captain aboard to around the 27th'ish of December.

I'm certain that everyone on the list will leave for vacation at some point. As I pointed out in the post, those people were onboard for the Nov 15th sailing...nothing can be guaranteed past that.

Got off the Sun on 10/31, and Leah was also leaving on vacation. She was our concierge and did a great job for us!

So if I remember correctly, Capt. Lars Bengtsson is the funny one? We were on the Pearl in 2010 with a Capt. Lars, and he was hysterical.

 

Lars Bergstrom is also a hoot.

 

Current Concierge on the Jewel is Elvina De Meneses, a lovely woman who for at least the last year, has been Assistant concierge under Ruth and Adrian among others on the Epic and the Breakaway.:)
