jrbeccles Posted December 3, 2012 #26 Share Posted December 3, 2012 I was on the Grand over Thanksgiving week, and there was no Sunday football, no Monday night football, and only one afternoon game on Thanksgiving! And that was shown in Snookers sports lounge, where the bar was closed! I assume that since the ship has just done the transatlantic crossing, and the CD was English, they didn't understand NFL fever. Not that I booked a cruise to watch football all week, but even one game on MUTs would have been nice.
big aft Posted December 3, 2012 Author #27 Share Posted December 3, 2012 Thanks Everyone! I really did not mean to start a discussion, just trying to watch my team....even if it meant in a bar or in the room!
gypsyj Posted December 30, 2012 #28 Share Posted December 30, 2012 I am wondering if the Star Princess will broadcast the NFL playoffs, on Star Princess sailing 1/4/2013-1/17/2013? Does anyone have any information regarding?
paul929207 Posted December 30, 2012 #29 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Welcome to Cruise Critic. I do not know the answer, but on cruises in other parts of the world we did not get any live US sports. For instance, in October in the Med, to World Series. paul929207 Posted December 30, 2012 #30 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Amelia is doing a live thread from the Star. You may want to ask her about football on Muts. I don't recall her mentioning it.
TaylorMace Posted December 30, 2012 #31 Share Posted December 30, 2012 We normally cruise in January and the NFL games have always been on MUTS. This is the biggest regular season game of the year, I'm sure it will be one. Enjoy and Go Skins!

Does anyone have any information regarding? Where will you be when the games are played? If you are near Cape Horn, it can be quite cold. Most will not be inerested in MUTS. It was posted yesterday that it was 43 F as the Star went around Cape Horn.
Rare Tak8 Posted December 30, 2012 #33 Share Posted December 30, 2012 It's fun to watch a little football while the ship sails. No different in my mind than watching a movie you could see elsewhere or a concert. Mix it up.
dot73 Posted December 30, 2012 #34 Share Posted December 30, 2012 I'm an avid NFL fan so I hope the playoffs are on MUTS Saturday and Sunday on my Emerald cruise Jan 6. I saw my all-time favourite player, Peyton Manning, win the Superbowl while on the Tahitian Princess in Moorea, and it would be great to see him on MUTS. Does anyone know whether the sports bar is smoke-free? [no flaming please from pro and anti smokers:eek:]
Pam in CA Posted December 30, 2012 #35 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Does anyone know whether the sports bar is smoke-free? [no flaming please from pro and anti smokers:eek:]All bars, lounges, restaurants and other public areas on Princess are smoke-free unless specifically noted. For instance, the Churchill Bar on some ships is a cigar lounge. Smoking is allowed in the Casino but not on all nights, some are smoke-free. In general, smoking areas on Princess are in open areas outdoors, either on Promenade or Lido decks.
caribill Posted December 30, 2012 #36 Share Posted December 30, 2012 Does anyone know whether the sports bar is smoke-free? [no flaming please from pro and anti smokers:eek:] It is a smoking area, probably the most smoke we have encountered in any area on Princess. quilter49 Posted January 3, 2013 #37 Share Posted January 3, 2013 My husband and I love to see Football on MUTS. We actually plan our trip during that time. We have met great people during the games. We were very disappointed when we went on our second trip to Hawaii in Oct. The only place that you could see the game was in a smoke filled sports bar. There were so many people that it was standing room only. They kept both doors shut. We just couldn't stand it! On the outside scree, they were playing "Blue Hawaii" and "From Here to Eternity" for the second time on the same cruise. Many passengers complained and were told that the Movie/Sports decision is made at the main office. Just didn't believe that in an instance. So, my advice is to stick to the Carribean during football season. You will have a great time. Many fans wear their jerseys! We still are in contact with Steelers fans that we met during the Super Bowl!
dot73 Posted January 3, 2013 #38 Share Posted January 3, 2013 Since I have asthma, I will have to stay out of the sports bar. Hopefully, MUTS will be showing the playoffs on Saturday and Sunday. I have already packed my Peyton Manning t-shirt and will cheering him on the Broncos with a nice fruity drink in my hand.:D
tuckersgirl Posted January 5, 2013 #39 Share Posted January 5, 2013 DH and I were recently on the Dec 14-29, 2012 Panama Canal cruise on the Coral and were looking forward to seeing the 2 Packer games that occurred during that time frame - based on comments I had read (above) here b/4 we left. While there were a few NFL games available on room TVs and MUTS, *NEITHER* of the Packer games were available (what?!? lol) anywhere. Other pax were also looking for them and we all discovered that the Coral has neither 1) a sports bar nor 2) any other bar with a TV that would carry an NFL game. We were admittedly disappointed but had no choice but to suck it up and "Escape Completely" without our beloved Packers. Everything else about the cruise was marvelous and memorable. :)
