Family of five in ocean view room

Anyone stay in the 179 sq ft room ov with 5? Wondering if we should get more room or is this doable?

Honestly, I didn't think RCCL even ALLOWED 5 in an OV room. I was under the impression you needed a suite to go over 4 people per room.

The ocean view cabin that would allow 5 would be the "Family" OV=FOV and the sq. ft. would depend on which ship you're considering.

The family oceanviews are 300 sq ft. Disney and Carnival will allow 5 in a non-family cabin, but not Royal Caribbean.

I believe any ov cabin that would sleep 4 would only have a love seat as opposed to a sleeper sofa so there would be no place to put the 5th person.

No way would I try to put 5 people in a 179 SF room...especially when you consider that includes the bathroom....Tight would not even begin to describe it!!!

Don't do it. Way to little space. If you'd like to share ship & sale date or most important details, I'd be happy to make suggestions as I'm sure other CCers would.

Might be a reasonable solution to the problem. Five folks, you are going to WANT that extra bathroom.

Oasis class has family inside, oceanview and balcony cabins. I've seen a family inside cabin on an Allure cabin crawl. It was actually very well designed and liveable. Any regular inside, oceanview, balcony or JS cannot be booked with more 4 people.

I have stayed with 7 in a Family Suite. No problem. My concern is that you are saying the room you are contemplating is 179 sq feet. Another type of suite may be fine but if $$ is a concern, I'm sure there are other affordable options.

Ok it's on deck 3 and its not called family oceanview it's called ov room. And she said it fits five?

I didn't think this existed either. The family oceanview yes is 271 sq ft. And fits up to 6.

I think your TA is mistaken...someone else will know for certain. There are some CCs that have a real wealth of knowledge about this stuff. If funds are an issue, consider side by side IS cabins, gives adults a room and kids on right next door, you can leave the interior access door open if you want to. MOST importantly you will have 2 bathrooms!

The OV cabins on Deck 3 on Allure shows twin beds, sofa bed and pullman. However, the sofa bed is love seat size and only sleeps one person. That's why there is a pullman to allow 4 people in those cabins. Check out the family cabins on deck 11. They sleep up to six. The family interior has 2 twin beds (or queen), sofa bed and bunk beds. It is 260 sq. ft.

If I could I would the price is almost $1500 more than a family oceanview room. And 1800 more than the 171sq ft ov. Unfortunately we are going on an almost booked ship :(.

What are the ages of the people going? If your talking small children you should be ok as long as you are ok with it being a little cramped.

Rooms that sleep four can often add a crib making it a total of 5. That crib takes up nearly all the floor space, however, and I DO NOT recommend this. It is a very tight fit even with four unless three of you are small children.

 

As for the rooms on Oasis and Allure that sleep 5 without a crib they are still incredibly crowded.

I'm thinking this is something you will have to experience once yourself and then decide if you will ever do that again!!! ;)

Lol no not miserable on a cruise. Yes not going with that room agree!
