Oosterdam to White Bay

Sydney ports is showing that Oosterdam is going under the harbour bridge today.

They are showing leaving the OPT at 15:45 and going to White Bay (4).

Then tomorrow at 07:30 going from 4 White Bay to Captain Cook Drydock.

When I saw her at Circular Quay this morning all her lifeboats were missing. I assumed they were doing manoeuvres somewhere but perhaps they had been dispatched in preparation for the drydock.

 

WIth the boats gone I had a clear view of the obstructed view cabins. Their windows look very large. Anyone been in one?

Hi All,

 

Having only disembarked Oosterdam on Wednesday, I was surprised when a friend sent me this link to today's Sydney Morning Herald.

 

With the ship in dry dock for the next two weeks, it seems rather unusual.

 

It is a public notice from the Australian Customers & Border Protection.

Not sure why the Australian Government would want the ship forfeited to the Australian Commonwealth if it remains in Australia for more than 30 days from yesterday 6 Dec.

 

It may only be offical / legal mumbo jumbo to ensure the ships overhaul is finished in the alotted time, but seems like a huge waste of Australian tax payers money by placing the advert.

Apparently it is some legal issue and when the P&O / Princess Australia ships went into drydock in Brisbane, the same sort of legal notice was published in the Brisbane Courier.

I just went back and re-read the advert. The 2011 is the postcode for Woolloomooloo (not the year). So it is correct.

Very interesting watching the underneath of the bridge. We are heading down to the Opera House this afternoon to watch the Oosterdam go back under the bridge.
