Port Canaveral as a port of call

The Grandeur out of Baltimore has a stop in Port Canaveral. Does anyone know where the ships docks? Will we be within walking distance to anything?

It depends on who else is in port, but it's usually the same terminal that Freedom sails from, and if not there, then it docks either at the DCL terminal or the Carnival terminal.

There currently isn't much in the port area, but the port authority is supposed to be building a shopping area (not sure when). Cocoa Beach or Titusville are a relatively short cab ride away, and that's probably the closest civilization comes to the port:)

One of the things people can do is an excursion to NASA.

From the several times we have docked there - there is nothing in walking distance. As another posted, Kennedy Space Center is an option. Sometimes transport up to Disney/Universal but Id suggest getting admission tickets in advance. Nothing within walking distance. I do believe there is a shuttle into "town" if you need to go to Walmart etc. There is a beach but of couse depends on the time of year your going and you still need shuttle/taxi. As far as Im concerned, this port is a waste of time. We rarely get off the ship anymore.

You will be too far to walk, but it is a short taxi ride to the port attractions- mainly restaurants and a few shops. They are located on the opposite side of the port from the terminals. This area is visible on the starboard side of the ship as you enter and cruise the channel toward the ocean.

A slightly longer ride to Cocoa Beach, Kennedy Space Center, and Cocoa Village.

We were just there on Mon Day 17. The Monarch was back from the weekend cruise and loading for the 4 night cruise. Carnival Ecstacy was also there on the same schedule. We were tied up at the terminal next to Carnival Ecstacy. The Disney pier was empty.

Absolutely nothing to do walking off the ship at this port. You have to take transportation to get anywhere. As noted, NASA, Disney World, Universal, Cocoa Beach are some options that you can consider. You can goggle Port Canaveral and go on their website to get some info.

I just saw that the enchantment docked at the carnival terminal.

We've never been lucky enough to dock at one of the terminals.... We are always at the "non-terminal" in the channel.

In March we were also at the small terminal halfway between the main terminal and the ocean inlet/park area. I didn't think they ever docked at the main terminals for a port stop. We just took the ron jon shuttle to cocoa beach and walked to the pier (it's a bit of a walk) and went down to the beach near ron jon's. In our case, we spent the night in port (this was during the time EN had propulsion problems and they fixed it while we were there).

In your experience, what side of the ship faces the dock? Yes, I know that it can vary from day to day, but for the most part, there is a 'usual' docking side to each port.

We like to watch the port comings and goings from our balcony.

Thanks,

Sandra

Where could we find some interesting restaurants? And transporation to/from. We had originally looked at the Ron Jon transfer - and looking for food there. And pros / cons to this plan?

Any other info. We are booked there several times - and it may be a sea day for us.
