She is beginning her World Cruise voyage today, and Brian is onboard with his family doing the Panama Canal portion Sheila. They said that they would be on the hump portion of the ship waving later today.

Just adding to Sage's post. Brian will be on deck 5 at the hump.

Anyone know the time for all the sail aways? I don't see today's sail away thread yet.

Looking at the ship on the port everglades web cam, you can see the hump.

Thanks, Bev! I posted the sailaway thread earlier this morning so checked the port schedul...it's listed to depart at 6 PM. Of course, they never seem to stick to the schedule!

Thanks for the heads up. She is a really pretty ship.

If you watch the webcam tomorrow her sister Queen Victoria will be in Fort Lauderdale. Arrival is listed as 0700, departure not yet on their schedule. I think QV is nicer looking than QE, IIRC QV's stern is less squared off and it's less boxy looking. NA, Eurodam, QE, and QV all share the same hull design.

Just watched Cousin Brian & his family leave FLL on QE. He called to say that he was standing on the balcony flashing lights from a cellphone - we could see them! :)

Since the ship left after dark, there's just no way we would have seen anyone waving from the ship. Nieuw Amsterdam & Westerdam were also in port today & left earlier; the Queen was the last ship to depart. W was trying to get out before it got too dark, but was delayed a bit while a barge was pushed in.

She looks beautiful...and she snagged one of HAL's berths to boot!

She is a DAM half sister ;)

From Wikipedia:

The Elizabeth is a modified design from earlier Vista class vessels, she is slightly larger than Queen Victoria, at 92,000 GT, largely due to a more vertical stern.
