Transatlantics are a different kind of cruising....Hey, Cruise Critic- give us our own board.

That said, ditto to the roll call- it makes things a lot more fun. Keep an eye on the bulletin board for changes with the groups, take part in a variety of offerings to spend your time on sea days, etc.

Bring lots of good reads.

Check your Dailies for activities and entertainment.

I agree with both of these suggestions. We have done 5 transatlantics. I love catching up on my reading. I also bring my portable hobby with me so I can work on that. I also take part in some of the ship-sponsored activities, and in the casino. There are usually slot tournaments and Blackjack tournaments.

Check the daily newsletter to see what activities are available. There's always group Trivia each day. That is my husband's favorite activity. There are also computer classes and usually photo classes as well.

Other activities vary from ship to ship, depending on what the Cruise Director organizes. Some that we've experienced are: craft activities, golf putting, shuffleboard, Wii bowling, bridge lessons, water painting, Spanish classes,

Enrichment lectures, line dancing class, and other dance lessons.

There's also usually a movie offered each day in one of the lounges. And usually one channel on the room's tv is a movie channel.

Of course, the gym is available to use, and a brisk walk on the promenade or on the jogging track is invigorating. Some of the crossing days are warm enough that swimming or lounging by the pool is an option.

Also, socializing with other passengers is an enjoyable activity as well.

And sea days give an opportunity to explore all that the ship offers, including the shops.

I think you'll find the days easily fill with plenty to do.
