Refelction Review week of Feb 2-9 ..

Just completed the Reflection 2/2-2/9 , was our 4th Solstice Class cruise and 2nd in AQ. We are in our early/mid 50's and were just about the median age on the ship. Not many young honeymooners, even less kids ( I think I saw 5 all week). After this wonderful cruise, I know I will never go back to any other class on these ships. Blu was awesome every night, Jose was a wonderful waiter ( and very funny) and Victor the Somallier was very charming and on point with his suggestions. The Filet and AHI tuna may have been the best I've ever eaten anywhere. Every night I had something that was really good and I never left " over full " ! The AQUA spa was wonderful, I even finally got hubby to try it out and he was there every day taking a steam and " chilling" in the ice room. Oh, the tile loungers were wonderful ! One night we went to Tuscan for my birthday and were so disappointed. 2 of the 4 of us got rib eyes and they were half fat and tough - -The Boulinaise (sp) was so spicy ( with no disclaimer) that it burned my lips with hot peppers. Just not good food for the extra fee ! Not worth it IMO . We were in cabin 6125 on the 11th floor -- No problems with noise, not too far from elevators/stairs - Only 2 flights up to spa/pool/food etc. This cruise was so far the best of them all! We loved the expansion of the SUNSET bar, IMO, the best place on the ship to sit day or night - drinking or not ! Only one formal night because of the SuperBowl -- -they did a huge party in the main theater, I was very impressed with that ! ( even though the Patroits were not involved). We are from Boston and the big snow happened while we were away. On Thursday, the cruise line sent around flyers stating they would give us free phone and internet access to " make arrangements" for changing flights/ getting hotels etc. This was very generous and put our minds to ease that we were not going to be sleeping in the airport for 2 days ( which would have been miserable after this great cruise) .. Had they not done this Thursday and we landed on Saturday trying to find rooms, we really might have been on the airport floor ! There were a LOT of North East people on the boat !! And I'm sure on every other cruise in Miami and FLL. As others had mentioned, nightlife was fairly quiet - we are casino people, so we tend to head there after dinner so we didn't miss anything - but walking back at night, it was very quiet. We went to the SkyLounge one night while an 80's party was going on, there may have been 50 people.... As no point did I ever see a line, a wait or a problem.... Good Job Celebrity !! We've already booked for next year ( thank you 123) .... As for the Islands -- eh, We've been on a lot of cruises and have done all the snorkeling etc , honestly, I could care if I ever got off the ship ! that's just us -- I would prefer to hang out, read, watch the band - enjoy the sun etc ! Bon Voyage to anyone who's booked - I wish I was back on her now ! :)

Thanks for posting the review.

Since you said you were in the casino...3 questions..

- Did they have a Let it Ride table?

- What were the general table mininums?

- How tight did the slots feel?

Thanks again.

Glad you had an awesome cruise too! We remember Jose Contreras fondly from Blu - super nice and friendly, as were all the staff in Blu.

We thought the Sunset Bar and the Hideaway were the best design innovations. Don't get me started on the Alcoves though.

- I think they had 3 card poker and Not Let it Ride ( they had the one where you put money up 3 times - I don't play this , so unsure of it)

- Table Minimums were $15 at a couple of tables in the day and $25 at a couple of tables in the day. Minimum was always $25 at night (and one table was always $50) . They don't have a lot of tables, and at night they are really busy after dinner. I was forced :D to play a lot of single deck BJ ( although I like a shoe better) .... Was up and down throughout the cruise !

- Slots were not loose at all .. Lot's of penny slots with $3 max play ( to win minimal) ... Really tried to steer clear... ( and I do like slots- but hese were brutal - saw no winning there)

If you really like casinos - - go to the Conrad or Marriott in Condado in San Juan --- decent tables and machines - a cheap cab ride. Go to the Marriott in St. Kitts for an awesome casino ( and go to the beach at the Marriott too, it's public) - Have lunch at the beach bar !! It's a $12 cab ride and really worth the trip - Awesome !

On same cruise and it was one of the very best. OP is correct about Jose and Victor. Ante, the Maitre 'd and Johnny, the Asst.Maitre'd ran a smooth operation indeed.Jean Paul is one of the finest Chefs. Senior Officers were very visable and friendly.

Thanks for the review. A little bummed about it being a sleepy ship?:( > Is everybody in bed by 9:00? I would like to think there's a fun crowd somewhere?

I was not on that sailing but after years of cruising on Celebrity the

ship is not closed up by 9:00:eek:....I am usually in the middle of dinner

at that time:D

I think (just my opinion) the early closing times are exaggerated.

Not by the original poster but in general. Is the stuff opened till

2am? No...but I have been in different bars till after midnight

on plenty of cruises before.

We were on this cruise (2/2-2/9) and they had at least 1 $10 BJ table every night (sometimes more than one) and at least once I saw a $6 table.

Thanks for the reply. Let it Ride has the 3 bets...so it sounds like they might have it.

Sucks to hear about the slots..but not surprised.

Those slots are waiting for the Feb 23rd cruise! :)

Thank you for your review. We did AQ last cruise and LOVED it. The food and the staff in Blu on the Reflection were great. Doing CC this cruise as we are cruising with friends and not everyone wants to eat in Blu (they do not know what they are missing).

Lois is right. We were on Reflection Jan. 12-19 and stayed up late (well, past midnight) every single night! Late-night comedian, Martini Bar, deck party, Casino, and the last night was this dance thing in the Centrum. It's not a raucous party boat, no, (thank goodness) but there is stuff to do!
