Blue Lagoon

It's just a 24 hour cafe. Where all the drunk people end up after a long night...

Really, I guess you were awake when those drunks ended up there? I have never stayed up late enough to see those drunks, but I do think it is a little more than just a hangout for drunks. Maybe you need to try it during normal hours?

Some of the musts: of course the chicken wings and usually the Fish and Chips. It depends on the ship, but it is a great place for a quick breakfast or a snack either late evening or after a day in port...Of course the food isn't gourmet, but it is diner quality...In fact, the one thing missing from the Sun, is Blue Lagoon.

the Full House breakfast was very good on the Dawn, we weren't drunk though, just hung over. ;) Wings and the dip would vary during the week, sometimes crispy (wings) and sometimes fatty - the dip was sometimes runny. Who cares, we are on vacation and not cooking!

We didn't have it offered on the Dawn last summer. I was looking for it too. Just the cheesecake, pound cake. May have had one more thing offered.

It's closed a lot more than 1/2 an hour, or was on our cruise out of New Orleans a few years back. I was still on work time on my brain, got up at 6:00 est, but the ship was on 2 hours ahead, so a LO.nG wait for them to restart at about 6 ships time since they were shut down when I got there.

Hopefully wont have the problem this trip since we're going to be on a European cruise so my 4am usual wake up will be mid morning....

No! Breakfast hours are 7 to 11 a.m.

Oh well wishful thinking. With the MUST HAVE first coffee in our cabin (this is a treat and will go a long way with me). I will stick to grabbing my fruit at the buffet when it becomes available. My husband sleeps in so we generally don't go out for breakfast on vacation together. On a cruise I will bring him something about 10 or so. Love this diner idea though and can see myself there often.

Don't forget that you can also get "carry out" from Blue Lagoon.... we did this several times in the afternoon- come back from port, grab some snacks from the BL and get a bottle of wine and sit on the balcony during sail away, while kids napped. Perfect.

I never knew that one could get so much from the BL. I only had a snack there once, but on my next cruise, (9/21, Gem) my cabin is almost next door to it. I love snacking in between running from the casino to my cabin. Looking forward to seeing all the drunks there too, when I close the casino.:) R.A. and the Gato

On our fall cruise on the Star, our cabin was just down the hallway from the Blue Lagoon. We ate there frequently. We had most of our breakfast meals there, partly because it was so convenient and partly because the staff was so friendly it was just a great way to start the day. I also discovered that the cheeseburger there was a really good burger. It is just an easy way to start the day or stop in for a snack without fighting crowds at the buffet. We had O'Sheehans on the Epic, but I still prefer the Blue Lagoon on the Star.

Maybe I am the only one but I thought Blue Lagoon(Jewel) sucked.

Slow service, cold food, actually had to hunt down the staff for anything, basiclly felt like we were bothering them by being there.

We went once then decided to give them another chance thinking maybe they were just having a bad night.

Must of been two bad nights same thing as the first time.

At least drunk ppl would have been entertaining but they weren't there either.

On Jewel a couple of weeks ago, it was on the lunch menu but not dinner. Had to get there before 5pm to have the brownie sundae. It's worth the trip :D

Interesting as the lunch menu and the dinner menu are the same thing on Blue Lagoon. Only thing different is breakfast.

I am in complete agreement with you. Service is SOOOOOOOOO slow. Most of the times, our orders have been incorrect. Or my tablemates will be eating while I am still waiting. Drinks ordered through the bar arrived AFTER my husband finished his fish and chips. I could go on and on.

The breakfast platter is no different than me going to the buffet (same powdered eggs) except everything is hot from the buffet and didn't have to wait for it. Almost missed an excursion.

People seem to love it. I cringe when I see another posting about "run in an get a snack." There is nothing quick about this place.

For the record, I do enjoy the Sports Bar on the Sun and Longboards on the Sky.

Agree. Blue Lagoon is garbage. In my life, I have never turned down a hot dog.... until I visited the Blue Lagoon. It resembled a skinny shriveled...... and it was lukewarm and the bun was so stale, I could snap the ends off. I didn't want a giant mouth full of breadcrumbs as my 1st bite so I removed those ends and took a bite. I felt like I took the Saltine challenge where you try to eat 6 saltine crackers in 1 minute without water. I needed water desperately but the waitstaff had not gotten that far yet. I was in big trouble. Eventually, my mouth cleared up and decided to wait until morning to eat at a MDR.

Actually, that wasn't the case on the Jewel for my Jan 20th-Feb 1st cruise. The lunch menu had more options -- but the only one I can remember was meat loaf, offered at lunch but not dinner. And the brownie sundae of course. No idea why.

Meatloaf? Wow! I would be there in a second. Have never seen that on a BL menu. Maybe they have recently revamped their offerings. Thanks for the report!
