This is copied from "newcruiser" I am trying to figure out if the CHEERS package is worth just one of the adults purchasing it. Obviously not the only adult in the cabin

im not sure if you are asking if cheers is worth it to purchase for one adult if you have more than one adult in the cabin.

if you are asking this... the answer is that its not possible. EVERY ADULT HAS to buy cheers in the same cabin.

If you have questions regarding the Carnival Cheers! program the BEST place to look is the Carnival site. For those asking if it's worth it - I am not a heavy drinker but I do like my frozen daiquiris & the Red Frog Rum bar concoctions.;) Last time we cruised I figured that JUST drinking those, I would have to order 5 1/2 to meet the $50 total to make it "worth it". It wasn't hard! Drink #1 - 10 am by the pool, #2 to go with lunch, #3 & 4 to get me through the afternoon, #5 just before heading back to get ready for dinner, #6 after dinner, maybe even #7 & 8 before retiring! On sea days it was really easy to space out those afternoon drinks & get in a couple extra before dinner! :D Now you can throw a coffee, soda, or milkshake in as well, far exceeding the $50/day price. Don't forget you PREPAID tips! Don't get tricked into adding more in. However I did give my waiter (who learned my name & would bring me a daiquiri when mine was getting low every time!) an extra cash tip on our last sea day.:p

I copied the specifics from Carnival about the "new" Cheers! (If you want to read the rest it's under FAQ.):

"The following beverages are now available within the enhanced CHEERS! program:

All spirits, including cocktails, cognacs, whiskies and other spirits, as well as beer and glasses of wine, with a $50 USD or lower menu price per serving

Zero-Proof frozen cocktails, sodas (including specialty sodas) and juices

Specialty coffees and teas served in the main dining rooms, specialty restaurants and coffee bars

Milkshakes

RockStar energy drinks, Powerade, Vitamin Water, Coconut Water and Honest Tea

500ml bottles of water served in bars and lounges

Large format (1 liter and 1.5-liter) bottles of water in the main dining rooms and specialty restaurants

25 percent discount off the menu price for any spirit, cocktail or wine by the glass, costing above $50 USD per serving

25 percent discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle and larger format water bottles purchased outside the main dining rooms or specialty restaurants

25 percent discount off the menu price for all beverage classes and seminars"

Do they care if you are sharing your drinks? I understand that you have to wait 5 minutes between ordering alcohol but do they care if you hand your drinks out to your friends if you are willing to burn through your 15 drinks?

This question is asked at least once per day, and this is the absolute perfect reason why the policy is all adults in the cabin need to purchase it. If not, everyone would only buy it for one person and still share it with everyone.

PER PERSON, this is not buy one and share it with my family. One person can not buy Cheers. Thousands of post and you get this question, unbelievable.

The OP is new to the boards - I don't understand why you have to be so nasty. He specifically said "we have 2 cabins with one adult in each cabin" so one person can buy Cheers. As far as sharing goes - couldn't you simply answer the question without being hateful?

NewCruiser 402 - don't let people like this run you off. I don't know why they feel the need to answer someone's question if it bothers them so much. I didn't think your question was out of line.

Out of over 1600 post and new cruiser asked that question. Get real I agree that the question should not have even been asked. Also just about every comment after said basically the same thing.

I think that's part of the problem. These mega threads answer so many questions, but if I have a few questions I can either read through 1600 posts...or just simply ask again at the end of the thread.

In a perfect world everyone would read through the previous posts and find their answers. That would lower the thread to a few dozen posts instead of 1600. But we aren't in a perfect world, which is another reason some people choose to answer with so much hate. A community is supposed to be a place to help each other share information. If people answer rudely it just discourages participants.

If I'm tired of the same question being asked over and over I'll just roll my eyes to myself, no need to make others feel bad because of it.

Another viable option before asking a question that has been answered multiple times is to use the "Search This Thread" tool above the top post on this page. :)

Let me get back to original purpose of this thread. I have a question on Cheers.

Let's say that my wife and I are in our cabin cleaning up to get ready for dinner. And then she sends me to the closest bar to bring her back her pre-dinner cocktail so she can work on it as she dresses. I, of course, would get a cocktail too. I know Cheers makes me wait before getting a second one, but could I take my wife's card (we have same last name) and get her drink on her card and my drink on my card ... or is that verboten?

Thank you.

I would think that was ok since its ok to 'buy' a drink for someone even on your card if you have cheers. so if you have cheers and you have your card and hers, they 'should' give you a drink using your card with the cheers program and give you another drink on her card charging the account.

I think that would work

Just off the Sunshine and my husband and I both had Cheers. We did that many times. I'd take his card and get 2 drinks or visa versa. It wasn't an issue for us!

My wife and I tried this at the casino bar a couple weeks ago but they made me go up and sign and physically carry my own drink. So probably depends on the bartender. And yes we tip every time.

From my experience on other cruise lines as this will be my first on Carnival. I have sailed other CCL lines. It all depends on the bartender. I have never had a problem but have heard of others who did.

Without reading the entire thread so please forgive me if this has been asked but are the bottles of Perrier or San Pellegrino covered under Cheers?
Yes, with the recent changes to the program that has added many new items and increased the limit from 10.00 to 50.00 per drink, bottles of water are now included. Details are at this link. https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1106/~/cheers!-beverage-program

Plenty of strong drinks to consume at the Alchemy Bar. If sailing on a ship without one, there is always long Island iced teas or Foster's oil cans.

If strong is all you want you can always just go with a martini or a manhattan either way it is pure alcohol and with the changes to Cheers the top shelf liquor is included.

There's been a lot of cheers threads, I've even made one, I figured if we could get all the FAQ in one place, we could help keep questions from being answered all day every day over and over. I've pulled these questions from existing threads from users, including myself. Answers confirmed by Carnival before posting (as of 2/18/2012). If I missed anything, please PM me, or ask, and I have no problem calling carnival to find out their answer and adding it to the list.

FAQ:

QUESTION: How much will I pay for Cheers?

A: You will pay $49.40USD For EVERY person in your cabin who is over 21 years old, EACH night you are on a cruise.

This means even if your cabin mate doesn't drink, you will still pay for them to be on the cheers program. Keep in mind that you do NOT pay for Disembarkment day, and you can sign up on the second day on board, paying for only that day through the last day, but you will be charged for each drink you order before you signed up separately.

EXAMPLE #1: You and your wife are cruising on the Freedom, on a 6 night cruise, and sign up for Cheers on the first day. You will pay $592.80 for the program. ($494 if you sign up on the second day)

EXAMPLE #2: You sail with your 19 year old daughter on a 6 night cruise, and sign up you pay $296.40. ($247.00 if you sign up on the second day)

QUESTION: Do I get charged for DisEmbarkment day/ Embarkment day?

A: You will NOT be charged for Disembarkement day. You will be charged for Embarkment day if you purchase the program on embarkment day.

Carnival Breeze

Carnival Glory

Carnival Legend

Carnival Liberty

Carnival Magic

Carnival Miracle

Carnival Pride

Carnival Splendor

Carnival Valor

Carnival Victory

(last list update 12/31/2012)

QUESTION 3: My Wife is Pregnant, will Carnival make an exception since she can't drink?

A: NO. Carnival will make no exceptions for any reason, including medical, EVERYONE in the cabin over 21 will be charged for the program.

QUESTION: Is it worth it?

A: (thanks to Vinman13) Depends on how much you drink.

If you are a straight domestic beer drinker ($5.75/drink plus gratuity) it will take almost 8 beers (in a day) to break even. Then you will basically get beers 9 through 15 in a day free. Saving you up to $49.79/day.

If you are a Grey Goose Martini drinker ($9.95/drink plus gratuity) it will take less than 5 (in a day) to break even. Then you will get martinis 6 through 15 in a day free. Saving you up to $122.24/day.

QUESTION: Is it truly unlimited drinks?

A: NO, you are limited to 15 drinks per 24 hour period. The 24 hour period is 6am to 6am the next morning, so your 15 drinks don't restart at midnight, but at 6am the next morning. IN ADDITION, Carnival has stated that the staff has been trained to cut you off if you get too drunk, and they will. You are also limited to 1 drink every 5 minutes.

QUESTION: I'm a Bears fan and can put away a case of beer on a Sunday, Can I still get more drinks after 15?

A: YES, but you will have to pay for them, as long as you are not too drunk, As a Bears fan, you should be fine up to 30 or so beers a day.

A: NO, Sodas are truly unlimited and do not count towards your 15 drink minimum.

A: NO, the program does not include those beverages. It also does not include bottled water(25% discount applies to bottled water not in the mini-bar), mini-bar, or room service drinks.

QUESTION: Does cheers work on Half Moon Cay?

A: Yes, cheers applies while you are on Half Moon Cay, but no other port.

QUESTION: Are tips and Taxes included

A: TIPs are included. TAXES while in US waters (IE embarkement day, key west stops, etc) Will be added onto your S&S Account. The package itself is NOT taxed, you will only pay tax on individual drinks in US waters regardless of when you buy the program.

Do you know what the current price of a pitcher of Beer? And is that a better deal than the purchase of Cheers?

Anyone know if you can cancel Cheers pre-purchase and then order again on a different credit card. Just got a new Discover card with 0% for 18 months - so thinking about trying to put all cruise and on-board expenses there. :)

If you are like me I pay the balance off in full each month so it wouldn't really matter. Yes you can cancel the purchase. If you haven't yet change you credit card for your onboard account.
