albones456 Posted February 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2013 In the home stretch now and still researching obsessively. Obviously this is a case by case subjective question, but what do you spend a day? We're 1st timers and we've already purchased the premium drink package. With dinner and drinks already paid for, how much cash should I expect to got through on the ship?

I'm not a good one to comment as we only spent $300 on our 14 day transatlantic cruise for 2 adults :-)
sharonlacey Posted February 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2013 It depends if you like to shop and gamble. I like to shop on the ship so always bring extra. Also, you might want to do one of the special restaurants.
camptiggergirl Posted February 19, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2013 Are you going to do any specialty dinning? Is it already paid for? What are your shopping habits like? My first reaction was that other then money in ports you wouldn't have much left to spend stuff on. Most of my bill was drinks, but then I realized that I got off the ship with only a $160 bill for 7 nights 2 ppl and some people spend thousands. albones456 Posted February 19, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted February 19, 2013 This is good to hear. I,ve budgeted a few hundred gambling dollars and neither of us are big shoppers. Imagine any souvenirs we'd purchase would be in port. I just wanted to make sure we can have a good time. From the numbers your telling me, we may have more fun than you lol. Thanks for quick responses

Turns out most of the things we wanted to do were free and almost all of the things we are still talking about free.

Being 1st timers you need to hear 10 positive comments to erase the one horror story you hear. I could just picture us at pursers desk arguing over a $1500
Rare Teeara Posted February 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 20, 2013 I like to budget $100 a day. If I don't spend my daily $100 on a sea day then I can move it to a port day. I like to do one spa treatment per cruise and try to keep it under $100. I also buy lots of the ship photos (the 8x10s run $20 each). I'm a scrapbooker, so it's important to me to get those photos. I only buy the drink of the day since I'm not a big drinker. As you can see, it definitely is subjective. I've been on cruises where people have spent over $1,000 on alcohol alone. I've spent $1,000 at the art auction. For me, if I'm going to spend money I expect to be walking off the ship with something in exchange. You'll have a good time regardless of how much money you spend. I had a blast with my mother on our Jewel cruise in 2011 and I only spent $150 onboard the 7 day cruise. Mom's final bill was under $100. One of the things I've found is that the more I cruise the less I buy but the more fun I have.
wscott52 Posted February 20, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 20, 2013 It's been a while since we cruised but wife and I are going on the Oasis this Saturday. I have booked and paid for in advance everything (specialty resaurants, wine package, spa, tips) I could. All we will have to pay for on the ship is drinks, and we're not big drinkers, maybe one additional specialty restaurant, and some souvenirs. I think $100.00 a day should be ample. I plan to have much more than that available in case of emergency or if my wife finds something on the ship or in port that she absolutely has to have. With dinner and drinks already paid for, how much cash should I expect to got through on the ship? Our OBS has been as low as $1,500 and as high as $3,500 and that doesn't include the jewelry bought at the various islands :) Some of this spending did include art work (before they did away with the art auctions) and picture CDs, Flowrider lessons and booze. I am thinking the booze package will cut WAY back on the amount we spend daily :p We are hoping this upcoming cruise will bring us in around the $1,000 mark but I wouldn't bet on it ;)
Desert Cruizers Posted February 20, 2013 #12 Share Posted February 20, 2013 We generally bring $500 in cash with us for a 2 week cruise and most of that is used for the slots. We have always brought back half of it.
joand452 Posted February 20, 2013 #13 Share Posted February 20, 2013 An additional charge to your seapass account would be the internet, so don't forget to factor that in. The charges vary (buying a package? going by the minute?). Cash is best in the casino--you'll get charged a 3% fee to "borrow" cash from your seapass account. We did that our last night on Explorer since we still had some OBC left. Have a fabulous cruise!

My friends are on FOS right now and I'm sure they are putting a dent in the Tequila supply. :D Erika (just kidding)

A 7 night cruise usually runs us about 350.00 and I wuold estimate 80% of it is drinks.
akcruz Posted February 20, 2013 #16 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Most of the big ticket items have been covered here already, and having purchased the drinks package, you shouldn't have too much more. As for cash, that is best in the casino, and needed for tipping room service. Everything else you can charge to your seapass (cabin). Those would be spa, specialty dining (including specialty coffees, ice cream and things like cupcakes as well as the restaurants), shopping onboard, excursions, and pictures. Of course depending on your preferences, you do not have to spend anything onboard besides your tips.
iamsunnysarah Posted February 21, 2013 #17 Share Posted February 21, 2013 We were about $1000 between drinks, spa, and bingo on our last 7 night cruise, and probably spent another $500 on the islands- we had 5 stops. We prepaid gratuities and 2 RC excursions in addition to the $1500.
