Next cruise is on O! Two questions

We love Disney Cruise Line, but our next cruise will be our first time on Oceania. We booked the October 22, 2014 - Gems of Antiquity. Three of us booked an Oceania Suite, 12011, and we are very excited. Two questions - can we get OBC by transferring to a travel agent? If so - any suggestions?) And - can anyone tell us about the bedding for the third person in our suite? Is it a rollaway? Is it comfortable, and where do they put it? Thanks so much for any info!!

Congratulations on booking a cruise on Oceania. You will have fabulous accommodations plus a butler to make your trip even more exciting and glamorous.

To change your booking to a TA, you will need to find one (it's not ethical to recommend one on this site), then notify Oceania via fax or letter that you want the booking changed to your new TA. It's between you and your TA to get OBC's etc. Ours always gives us gratuities, and more, which is why we will never use anyone else.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll get more information on this from others on this site.

Do some internet searches to find a cruise travel agent who has a high number of O bookings. Those are the ones who generally have the best to offer.

Sometimes they say "Oceania Specialist" or something similar. You can also call a number of agents and ask them what they would give you if you transferred the booking. I would avoid the local folks (not likely a small neighborhood agency has that kind of volume) and look at some of the larger agencies with a strong on line presence.

When you cruise on O ask some of your fellow cruisers who are O regulars for the names of their agents. That's the best way to find one.

As you may note, we cannot recommend any particular agency here, but it would be from whomever you select that you will receive any OBC.

The third person sleeping arrangement is from a sofa that is always in your suite. In the evening, sheets and pillows will be arranged by your room attendant, and in the morning, it will be converted back into a sofa. It is quite comfortable....

You have to transfer the booking within 30 days so shop quickly ;)

There is a Sofabed for the 3rd passenger

I would verify they have a the sleeper sofa as the OC cabins are not designated for 3rd passengers on the deck plans

Maybe someone who has used it will comment

enjoy

We were in an OC and if I remember correctly there really wasn't a "comfortable" third person accomodation. There was the "TV/Entertainment" room with a sofa but I do not think this was expandable (and was not too comfortable as it was). I do remember sitting a lot on the sofa in the living room but I am not sure it opened up to a bed. Time for Jim/Stan to respond;)

Why - did they bring their children along for the sofabed? :D

Very funny Paul.....we all know they have no children..but we also know they leave no stone unturned when it comes to ANY cabins on "O". I trust them "almost" wholeheartedly!!! Don't get me going on "almost" Jim:p

We've also booked a third person in the Oceania Suite for a cruise this summer. I booked directly with O. They had to put me on hold for a few minutes while they confirmed that a rollaway bed would be available for our cruise. They told me that they'll bring a rollaway bed into the media room each night and remove it in the morning. It'll be interesting to see if this really happens. I'll make sure to report back after the cruise, but hopefully someone will have more information before then.

I cannot see a rollaway bed fitting in the media room..there is just no room for one. They would have to move the sofa out and even then it will be a tight squeeze. A rollaway may fit in the main living room area though.

We've booked a Vista Suite for the 9/14 Barcelona to Istanbul cruise for 4 people. O told us they will bring in 2 roll aways each night. They also said only 3 people can be accommodated in an Oceania Suite due to not enough room for 2 roll aways. I take that to mean that none of the couches in these suites are sleepers. However the PH Suites do have a sleeper couch.

Good grief, why would they design or decorate such a large suite so that you couldn't accommodate a 3rd (or 4th) person? The media room looks like it would work fine, if they just moved the big coffee table.

I agree, Wendy but Celebrity has done the same thing with their S class ships. Take a 1200 foot Penthouse suite. It only sleeps 4 with 2 in a sleeper couch. Makes no sense to me.

Since O built the new ships recently there was no thought of children on board or third or fourth people in suites. Our experience has been that the large suites have always been occupied by two.

There are however smaller cabins that sleep 3.

O is not Disney!

I beg to differ..moving the coffee table will still not accommodate a rollaway, unless one was a gymnast and can vault into and out of bed

We have to agree with Dojo on this one.

On the one occasion where we have seen a third person accommodated in an Oceania Suite, the sleeping arrangements were set up in the Living Room and the roll-away was hidden by day at the back of the walk in closet.

It is obvious that the designers did not want those media rooms seen as an alternate second bedroom.

All of the furniture except for the ottomans are fixed to the floor.

I must disagree with your comment. This is nothing to do with young children but much to do with an adult family vacation, with perhaps 2 adult siblings who, obviously would not share a pull out couch.

I can't see that it would make much difference to O if the children were four or forty, but there is a concern that those big Suites not become dormitories.

Families already have the option of booking adjoining cabins if they wish to travel together.

A dormitory??? I don't see how it is any different to have three people in a regular cabin versus a suite. The third person fare is a fixed additional rate regardless of cabin category.

My guess is that the luxury decorators were more concerned about design over function. I understand that for the main living area, but there are new sofabeds on the market that could have worked even in that tiny OC media room. Seems a lot easier than dragging rollaway beds all over the ship ...

And therein lies the problem, because you will get people who imagine that if they take in extra people and "divide the cost evenly three or four ways" then they will get to experience "The Suite Life" for not much more than what they would have paid for each of two in a standard cabin.

Rules regarding the number of people that a big Suite can sleep, keeps that kind of thing down to the bare minimum.

SO well said, as usual! :D

Seeing it like this that's obvious--looking at the floor plan it wasn't. I still don't understand why they wouldn't have arranged the furniture better. Oh well, not a problem I'm going to have.
