Freedom of the Seas Review - 26 May - 2 June 2013

Recommended Posts

The casino match play coupons are all gone too - they don't exist in any form. Those were my favorite coupons. :(

They were my favorites also. I loved winning majority of the time with those. I guess RCI figured out they were losing money with having those. The spin to wins are ridiculous and of course they still have those coupons. I won 2 key chains which I gave to our first time cruisers.

Hey does anyone know how to upload photos right onto the window pane here instead the smaller photos? I see other CC'ers do it and was wondering how to add my photos to this thread.

Hi All,

I have a ton of photos and I will try to upload over the next few days some highlights from our cruise. I know visual is always a plus. Just need to figure out how to do that. In the mean time, if you have any questions will be glad to answer for you with regard to the ship and the itinerary if you are visiting the same islands. I will answer the questions, not the people that are trying to highjack my thread. Go start your own review, you know who you are. :pLOL

This is supposed to be a friendly site and you think that you own it, well you don't. You had the same attitude on the ship. I asked you, your friends and girls how those Mojitos were and you never answered. By the way, you weren't friendly either.

Take this attitude and put in your pocket and share with all.:(

Thanks for the wonderful review, I appreciate it.

We will be on the Freedom in a few weeks with family and I have a question for you: On your stingray tour through the ship, do you remember the type of transportation you used (bus, van, etc.) to get to your excursion boat? We have a 7-year old granddaughter and her mom wants to take a booster seat as she is concerned about safety. She realizes that if there is a bus used there will be no seat belts so a booster won't work. However, if there is a van, there might possibly be seat belts????

Thanks for your understanding with regard to my question.

Most of the Islands use Mini Toyota Vans and they all seemed to have seatbelts although I don't recall ANYBODY wearing them

HTH

Thank you. My daughter is very protective of her daughter's safety so I am sure she will be happy to read your reply.

The first time we did this tour with the ship back in 2009, we had a bus for everyone that was on the excursion and the boat we took out to the sandbar was a double-decker, quite large.

For this year's excursion we actually had a small bus/van and there weren't any seatbelts that I remember. Plus our group was so large they split us into 2 separate vans and small boats. It was very different this time. The boat was smaller this trip and run by brother's who were very good. When the weather changed so drastically while we were out there, they took their time going back to the pier area as to not toss us around with the high waves. We were getting pounded by the rain and believe me that was greatly appreciated.

If you have any other questions, just let me know.

Annefram, thanks for posting. Did you use your BOGO dining coupon on this cruise? I know some ships allow using both (for a couple) coupons on nights other than the first night. I want to go to Portofino and understand that the Mystery Theater is there the first night. I am hoping they will let us use the coupon on another night, as some ships do. Do you have any info on this, please?

No we didn't use the BOGO coupon for Portofino's or Chop's. I believe you had to use them the night we boarded or it was a certain night stipulated on the coupon list in your cabin. We have done the Mystery Dinner on a previous cruise (Explorer). It was a lot of fun. You will start in the Viking Crown Lounge. They will have finger foods and champagne. They start the show there and then you go to Portofino's for the remainder of the show and dinner. Definitely worth doing once. Enjoy!

Over 18 cruises I've met plenty of CruiseCritic people with whom I didn't click and plenty with whom I did. Regardless, I never felt the need to stalk someone after the cruise by posting negative comments in their reviews/postings. Just chalk it up to you and Anne not clicking and move on to planning your next cruise. CruiseCritic is supposed to be a friendly place. Your snipes at Anne are being ignored by her and are therefore just cluttering-up the screens of everyone else who is trying to learn about this ship and/or itinerary.

I'd post more but I'm too busy planning my next cruises. It looks like I have Liberty, Freedom and Adventure lined-up for next year - as well as my first cruise on Princess! :)

Here's the Crown & Anchor "Welcome Aboard" letter that was in our cabin.

Note that we're Diamond members. Categories lower and higher than Diamond will, of course, have different offers and perks.

If these aren't large enough you can click on them to open them in their full-size.

Dave, I hope our cruising paths cross again. Loved spending time with you, Wendy and your friends! It's Oasis of the Seas (2014) and Quantum of the Seas (2015) next up for us. You all will have to come up to NJ to visit and cruise on QOS. Cannot wait! :D

No worries, thanks for sticking up for me. Some humor involved yes but let's move on for sure. Love Cruise Critic and all the wonderful people I have met over the years. Once in a while, you can't make everyone happy. :p Happy Cruising!

Hoping for more questions from future FOS cruisers. I promise, promise I will try to upload some photos this weekend into this thread from our cruise. Like I said, visual is always great. :D

I agree. I wasn't the one saying I'm hocking her thread. I just thought it was interesting that I thought she would have been one of the people to ask questions too, but not that I would not get answers when I/ we were on the ship.
I am happy she has helped others and her review was good.

Leave it be,I am and never stalked anyone. I just felt that I was treated wrongly and could not understand why.
So be it.
Annefran helped others and that is a good thing.
One thing I have to say, this post or thread on this cruise or others is for everyone.:)

Oh that's a major BUMMER :(( thanks for posting that letter Dave.

One NEW coupon I noticed is the 25%off on a casino tournament entry. I guess that's supposed to make up for the $15 in match plays they took out perhaps it was too difficult to try to do a match play without coupons, so they pulled it?

Thanks also for the helpful info AnneFran. I know it takes up time to do this! Edited by OTownNick

Hi all,

Can someone send me instructions on how to post photos in this thread? I uploaded them to a photobucket too. I want to be able to share some photos I took with everyone of the ship, our cabin and the islands. Thanks!

Enjoyed the slide show. To post photos here, I just copy and paste from Photobucket. Someone said something about use "IMG" format, but I just know if I copy from PB and paste here it works. Edited by OTownNick
