Buying water in Venice

hi, we are embarking on our cruise in Venice and want to bring a case of water on board our ship. Does anyone know a place to purchase water close to the ship? Obviously we do not want to be walking far with all that water. Also if anyone knows of a good place to pick up wine we would like to do that as well.

search in this forum for some other threads about supermarkets and wine shops in Venice. It's been awhile since I've been there, but there is a Carrefour (the European supermarket chain) somewhere along the way from Piazzele Roma to the cruise port.

And of course the tap water on the ship us perfectly drinkable.

The reverse osmosis process gives you just ad fine a water than most bottled waters. Unless you like the taste of a particular water, safe your money.

Ever read " Evian" back to front? ;)

WOW! Ok,,, but most of do quite fine with the tap water onboard. But if you must....there is a COOP market located near the Piazale Roma. You walk down to the vaporetto piers (they are located along the Grand Canal behind the ACTV Office, and then turn left. Walk along the canal (keeping the water on your right) for about 2 blocks and you will see a small "COOP" sign on a building (on your left). It does not look like much from the outside, but it is a small supermarket. The water, soda, and wine are in the back room.

P.S. We saw the post that said there is a Carrefour.....but having been to Venice about a dozen times (on ships and driving) we do not recall any markets from this chain.

Hank I agree ive been there multiple time both driving and ship also and have never seen a Carrefour in that area. on the other hand ive been to the COOP a few times for wine and its a nice market in a great location.

As has been suggested, the Coop is your best bet. We empty one of our rolling carryons and use it for transporting our purchases back to the ship. Water, wine, soda, etc. can be quite heavy.

You're right. It is COOP, not Carrefour. the Carrefour I was thinking about is Barcelona...
