mmariec Posted July 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2013 From what was confirmed to me by a Carnival representative via e-mail, the Carnival Legend will be in dry dock February 2, 2014 through February 16, 2014 to receive 2.0 upgrades. Here's my question - does anyone know if the 2.0 upgrades affect the staterooms in anyway? We are looking to book a Premium Balcony for the April 6 sailing to Western Caribbean for our honeymoon and want to make sure we won't be paying for a room that will change during dry dock. And on that note, does anyone have any picture comparisons of a premium vs. extended balcony? I know the interior of the premium room is a little larger, but is there any difference in size of the actual balcony? Thanks everyone!!

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app That's a screen shot of the email I received back from Carnival. I asked when the Legend would dry dock and what upgrades it would receive. I couldn't get a screen shot of the whole email.

mmariec Posted July 31, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted July 31, 2013 I noticed the Legend is moving the Australia in August of 2014. I'll miss her! I have no answer to your question, but hope someone else does. I've yet to sail on any of the 2.0 ships, but look forward to doing so. COLOR] We sailed on the dream in February and had a great time, although I was not find of the layout of this ship. The upgrades were fantastic but elevators were always packed. Had to search 30+ minutes for chairs almost every day. Seemed as though they had too many people and not enough public areas. I've never been on the Legend, but from the reviews I've read it looks like she's pretty open and spaced out. I like that their are public areas on the bottom floe as well as the top. mmariec Posted August 5, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted August 5, 2013 John Heald posted on his Facebook today about the Legend's upgrades. These include Waterworks including the green thunder, the longest and fastest waterslide at sea. The Redfrog pub, a full service sushi restaurant called bonsai sushi. And the cherry on top shop. I'm sure there will be more. These are the only ones he mentioned.
cjknox Posted August 5, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2013 I assume that the Legend will be getting whatever upgrades the Spirit got prior to entering the Australian market.

Rare jimbo5544 Posted August 5, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) I assume that the Legend will be getting whatever upgrades the Spirit got prior to entering the Australian market. We willbe on her the week before she departs. I had heard that the Spirit had cash bars, woder if the same is true for the Legend. There was also mention of 9 and 12 day sailings from Austrailia to exotic places. Pretty interesting. Edited August 5, 2013 by jimbo5544

There was also mention of 9 and 12 day sailings from Austrailia to exotic places. Pretty interesting. i sailed the Spirit to Australia last year, and there were no cash bars on the way over. I don't know if that changed once it started sailing from Sydney. Some of the changes that the Spirit had were the addition of free espresso/capuccino machines in the buffet area, which we were able to enjoy on part of the Australian sailing. Different slot machines were put in the casino. I don't gamble, so not sure about whether they were good or bad. A barbeque area was added outdoors during the sailing, but it did not open untill the cruises started from Sydney. On balcony cabins, additional sliding door locks were added to the upper part of doors. Not sure the reasoning on this. Since I will also be sailing on the Legend, it will be interesting to see if they make some of the same changes. I sure enjoyed free capuccino's every morning. Rare jimbo5544 Posted August 7, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Glad to see no Jumbotron in sight. Jumbo would not fit....but don't get your hopes up. A smaller version is being retrofitted on the Spirit class.
Thebosn1 Posted August 7, 2013 #24 Share Posted August 7, 2013 2 yrs. in dry dock? Am I missing something? Those dates are only a two WEEK period. How much can they do in two weeks. I just booked a repositioning cruise to Sydney and my PVP mentioned the yard period but it has to be more than two weeks right?
