Just off the Carnival Breeze...my thoughts!

Thank you for the Breeze review. It is one on our to-cruise list so we appreciate the good info.

Also happy for your wife winning on the Goldfish Slots. I bet that made the day a good one. :)

Lastly, great tip on the hotel. It is always helpful to those looking for a quality pre-cruise hotel. I jotted it down in the Port of Miami section of our cruise notebook.

Yeah that win went right to put on our 2400.00 S&S bill:eek: That hotel has about 6 restaurants within easy walking distance....a short drive (1.3 miles) is Carnivals headquarters which is worth seeing and 1/2 a block away is a place called Miller's Ale House which was awesome!

Funny you mention that....Club O2 was used only once or twice the whole cruise....what a waste of space....i will post my thoughts on the Elation when i return.

Same on the Splendor, I was not joking (and I really think they thought I was), it is a perfect space for the Red Frog....granted no outside exposure.

cruise. I had a ball. Loved Guy's Burgers and the Breakfast Burritos also. The ship was great. Not too many kids. Loved the C-side Bar-B-Q. Never had a long line on the 2 times I went [right when it opened]. The food was good to me, chicken, sausages, pulled pork, beans etc. Found the dinner food on the Lido was better than the times we ate in dinning room. The weather was great. Bedding was ok to my wife and me.

Exactly you had to be there right at 12 and we were too involved doing other things...im not saying it was bad just not up to southern bbq standards.

but come on who goes on a cruise expecting world class bar-b-q. I am a grill master. For all the food that has to be mass produced for a cruise and a profit has to be made it was great Bar-B-Q. They had sauces on the side to jazz it up. Not debating with you but if I hired them with the same food for the bar-b-q in a park most people would be happy. I just don't understand people who pay a great price for a cruise and want everything to be 5-star. The line has to make a profit while serving/catering food 24/7 and having shows, pools, water parks, bands, etc all for one great price.

Just back from the 8/31/2013 sailing of the Breeze. Here are my thoughts on Carnival and the ship! Stayed at the Hyatt Airport Doral West.....good hotel with shuttle from airport and to the ship. We booked The Miami Cab Company for transportation though so we would make sure getting to the ship early as we had FTTF. We were emailed not to showup till after 1:00pm but that wasn't happening. Got to port by 10:45 and were on the ship by 11:00...FTTF worked great the whole cruise! The ship is so much nicer decor than any other Carnival ship we have been on.....the colors flow from one area to another and this ship should stay in the carribean due to the decor! Muster drill was flawless and quick....our station was on the lower floor of the Ovation Theater....still boring though....lol. First the cabins....we booked a inside on the lido deck (10) as we had balconies the last few cruises and for the most part feel they are a waste of money unless you smoke or spend lots of time in the room which we don't. With that said the cabin size was smaller than any inside we had previously! Room service was great (Sergio) from Costa Rica took awesome care of us....ice bucket was always full and room imaculate. He made towel animals we never had before too and this was our 7th cruise with Carnival and leaving on another one in 2 weeks! Not much stuff for free in the bathroom anymore....but shower had full shampoo and shower gel all week. Now the food....room service was always on time with the food and it was good....Guys Burgers were very good...my personal favorite was The Ringer! Fries were awesome! Pizza (Pizza Pirate) 24 hours was the best pizza i have had on Carnival.....Pizzas are all made to order and no more ready made frozen ones...Thank you Carnival for that! The only lines i encountered all week was at Jimmys Seaside BBQ which i avoided as it was so hot outside. Plus i heard they were just ok and nothing to rave about. The Indian Food opposite side of the aft deck as the pizza was also awesome...we all loved it! Mongolian Wok was good.....Most stuff i had on the buffet was average to good......Butterfly Fried Shrimp were awesome but they didn't have cocktail sauce to scoop with it....alot of us wondered about that though you could have mixed ketchup and horseradish and made it yourself. The Italian Resaurant was booked solid till the last night so we went then....great food....great people....and so much i couldn't finish it and thats a first for me. 555 Farenheit the Steak House was good but very small.....you need reservations early for that too. Sushi was great....really loved it and for a great price. The crew on the whole ship was so friendly. Iguana Cantina was really good.....great choice of salsa's and so on. Taking a break and will be right back....any questions ask away.

Did you do the 6 day or 8 day? We are doing the 8 day on Jan 4th, would like to make reservations for 555, but don't want to miss formal nights.

A few fellow spanish cruisers i knew onboard told me. For the time of year there were more kids than i expected onboard too.

Most of the Cubans in S.Florida are from families who fled Castro. Assimilation is not so hot.

But when they first fled Cuba, It was a very stratified nation. A few very rich and many very poor. Most of them were very, very well to do in Cuba used to large staffs of servants and such.

They mean no harm...they just don't view the world from the same historical and cultural viewpoint that the USA does.

It would be nice if after 70 years here, they learned to speak English in stead of making Miami the 2nd. largest Spanish speaking city in the World. But that too is our fault. We permitted it. Welcomed it. Still do...so ......I am watching Dora with my Grand daughter //picking up a little Spanish. Go with the flow.

Upon entering my cabin for the first time (#9235), my first thought was how am I going to sleep in that twin bed - I am 6 foot 4. That being said - the mattress was absolutely the best cruise ship mattress I have ever had. Better than Holland America which has excellent mattresses as well - and infinitely betrer than the wooden planks Princess calls a bed.

I have often said since I have been back that I wish I could have strapped that mattress to my back and brought it home.

Also, we were just reminiscing at work today about the Guy Fieri burgers - so very good - and the fries - just not enough words to explain how much I crave them.

We were on the 8/31 Breeze sailing as well. Loved: Angie, Butch the cruise director, Hasbro game show (our daughter won & it was really fun), Guys burgers, steak house, cove balcony cabin, ports of calls, the library for wine & board games & tons of lounge chairs. Disliked: a lot of the other entertainment team (seemed more interested in their own inside jokes & each other than the cruise guests) really, really loud large family group in the steak house on our first visit, people who came to tea time in the dining room and proceeded to sit on upholstered chairs in their wet bathing suits, punk teenagers with no supervision and disorganization in port area of Dominican Republic (hard time getting through to our tour & peddlers were really aggressive, practically coming inside van). All in all awesome cruise and absolutely love this ship! Never seemed crowded and so light & bright. Was the towel animal parade on the last day? We missed it.

No the towel animal parade was the 6th day and.....those stupid security guards in the DR were only letting certain people through...people were cutting in line......but turned out to be my 2nd favorite day...did Dreams Resort there. Butch was okay but i never pay attention to the cruise directors anyway...wemake our own fun....i saw your daughter win....the Hasbro Show was fun!Angie on guitar was the best!

No as soon as you finally get out the taxi gate:mad: just tell a driver you want to go there....its 15.00 per person round trip....tell them when you want to be picked up and you pay them in the end.....Resort is beautiful....one person in your group has to leave a drivers license at the guard gatehouse at Dreams....you get it back when you leave....have a great time! Don't pay more than 15.00 per person roundtrip but do tip them.

My favorite drinking/food place was the Red Frog Pub on deck 5. Best addition to the ship in my opinion. Thirsty Frog Red is great beer....very filling and strong. The appetizers in the pub were really good and worth the 3.33 each...Conch Fritters were my favorite with the wings a close second. The outside area at the pub is really nice with a hot tub just 15 to 20 feet away.....nice peaceful hot tub. For Your Time Dining i think Carnival finally has it figured out as it went flawless...never waited for a table....waiter service was great...and food was always hot or at least warm....never cold. So out of all the food venues the only lines were at Jimmy's Seaside BBQ or the buffet after Grand Turk i believe. Biggest lines i had at Guys...Pizza or buffet were 6 people in front of me! Casino was nice and between my wife and i we won over a thousand with her the big winner on the Goldfish slots! Only went to one show cause i heard they were bad.....Beatles show was good....Hasbro the Game Show was fun. I was disappointed as i wanted to do the 4D Thrill Theatre but never got there :( Waterslides were the first i ever made it down with Carnival without pushing all the way....i flew in them with Twister being my favorite.....Water Works is alot of fun. Now for my only complaints for the whole cruise....#1 Matresses are hard and horrible so don't tell me they are still using the same ones John Heald. #2 Ship still has sewage odor on aft decks outside at the very least.....did it ruin it for me ...no i just avoided it. #3 or maybe this should be #1.....they play alot of crappy club music instead of Carribean type music...We are on a ship not in downtown Cuban section of Miami......please go back to nice carribean music.....example...Jimmy Buffet....Zac Brown....Kenny Chesney...Bob Marley! They seem to be trying to attract 16 to 21 year olds :( With the FTTF i was off the ship by 7:30

I, too was on this sailing and I agree the mattresses they are using now are not the same as before!! They are horrible so hard, nor is the bedding the same, before getting into bed was like a really great hug now it is like a slap to the face! In my opinion the barbeque was not good at all!!

If you haven't sailed the Breeze you are missing a great treat!

I have alot of Honey do stuff to do for a few days...after that i will post some pictures......What did burn me up and i went right in her face and took her picture is a woman who on the morning when they did every lido deck poolside deck chair with towel animals....well she moved one towel animal front and dead center and plopped her butt down......nobody else even thought to do that.....ruined everyones picture. I will post that too in the coming days!

They did the towel animals on the lido deck!! We were on the Aug 17 sailing and we didn't get it! Or atleast I didn't see it. But I was on the lido every morning between 6:30 and 8:30 on my to or from the gym and never saw it. So bummed!!!
