Prinsendam neptune lounge

Just a simple question--no controversy please! Does the Neptune Lounge on the Prinsendam have a balcony---and if so is smoking permitted on that balcony. I've looked at the pictures and just can't see the details.

Yes it has a balcony. Don't know about smoking policy.

It has a beautiful balcony - I've never seen ashtrays there.

 

I don't know for sure, but I think it would be considered a public place and since it is not a private verandah (for use of all suite passengers) I am guessing smoking is not permitted.

 

I've never seen anyone smoking there. Then again, a lot of people don't seem to take full advantage of it:D

 

You will also find some beautiful Stephen Card books in that Neptune Lounge as well as the stained glass:)

I cannot imagine they would permit smoking on a public balcony. If it is not for the use of only one cabin, it is public.

The Neptune Lounge veranda is not listed as a smoking area:

 

For the comfort of all of our guests, all staterooms (cabins), showrooms and most other indoor areas are designated non-smoking. While smoking is not permitted in staterooms, guests are allowed to smoke on stateroom verandahs. Smoking is also permitted on certain other designated, outside decks. The designated smoking areas for all ships are as follows unless otherwise noted.

Cigar and pipe smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the ship; it is only permitted on the outside decks where smoking is otherwise allowed and on stateroom verandahs. Electronic cigarettes are permitted in staterooms but not in other public areas of the ship other than on outside decks designated as smoking areas.

Any guest who smokes inside staterooms in violation of our policy will be charged a US$250 cleaning fee per day of violation.

Thank you. I did try to get an official answer--which was that smoking was not permitted in the lounge, but no clear answer about outside areas. It does make our cabin choice difficult because we want that side of the ship and a Neptune Suite, which would be close to the lounge balcony. Isn't smoking allowed on the outside wrap around decks on other ships, I remember seeing those little hanging ashtrays there.

Smoking is allowed on your verandah/balcony for your stateroom. Permitted on private verandahs in other words. The balcony for the Neptune Lounge is not an aft wrap around deck by the way.

 

So you can get a Neptune suite and be able to smoke on your own balcony.

 

There is also a small smoking area on the lido just as you come out of the Neptune Suites (port side I believe if I haven't gotten myself turned around:p).

The answer to that question is far from clear to me. Smoking was allowed on the promenade deck (by whichever name it used on any given ship). But the smoking policy changed early this year.

If you read the policy as quoted above, it appears that smoking is not allowed on the promenade any longer. It appears to say that smoking is allowed on the "outside decks" which are listed below, and indented as if they are a list of the specific outside decks on which smoking is allowed.

However, others have interpreted the policy as smoking is allowed on "outside decks", without limitations.

 

Good luck getting this one figured out.

Neptune verandah is nice. We just got off the Prinsendam in July in Neptune suite. Smoking was not allowed on the balcony of the Lounge.

 

There was a smoking area on the lido deck just outside the entrance to the Neptune Suites.
