Beverage Package Price Increase On Board

You're lucky. I tried today and was told that as we hadn't bought the package we couldn't upgrade it until we were on the ship. She said that it would confuse the booking (?) as there wasn't any money allocated to our package as it was the promo, so we couldn't add any money to the booking.

I'd definitely ring back - that's what I was told the first time I asked, but had no problem upgrading last night, and within a minute it was showing on my booking details. On hour later I got an amended invoice by email with everything listed

Good luck

Lou

In your case, if you do not wish to pay the increase, I'd make the purchase before your cruise.

From a consumer standpoint, I'm not pleased with the change... but it's pretty shrewd of Celebrity, as it's certainly going to motivate many guests to make the beverage package purchase in advance.

Which gets the money in their pockets sooner...and ables them to invest it.

it's actually a really good idea, from a business standpoint.

Glad I usually prepay mine anyway :-)

I'll give it another go and see what happens! Thanks.

You need to call 0844 4936207 rather than the main number. Also be prepared to hang on a while. It took 20 minutes for mine to be answered.

The uk cost is £106.26 per person for 14 nights.

Just called the customer enhancement phone number provided by Andy, and had no problem upgrading from Classic(123 promo)to Premium for myself only. Was on hold for less than 5 minutes. Perhaps X realizes that most of the bar attendants on the ships were doing this anyway and decided to get the $$ early.

We also don't know if you can still buy a package at anytime on board "until the end of the cruise"....or if they now only sell the packages for the entire cruise. No confirmation from the (we thought official) "celebrity ?" ID on that....nor any confirmation that what is found on the web site (on any topic) is the official celebrity policy. In fact the post stating the official policy by "celebrity ?" and my question back seem to have been deleted from this thread (Andy??)....

We also have some (unintentional) confusion with Andy saying he was told the official policy is that both in a cabin must upgrade, but then we have continued reports that isn't true. I am sure Andy stated what he was told.....but we completely confused because celebrity's official policy seems to change depending on who (Andy or others) ask at Celebrity...or what phone number they use.

What a mess.....

I just scrolled back and see the two postings from Celebrity as well as your post asking about obtaining the package for part of the cruise.

Yes! Call back. We have the Classic as our perk in the 123, upgrade has already been posted to our booking and the RCCL visa has been hit.

Opps, sorry, just read you are on the other side of the pond. So Yes it is a different booking world for ya'll over there.

Where is the mention of upgrading for part of the cruise? I was going to ask, then saw you say you "found it", but I don't see it after re-reading the thread.

If you have a promotion that is giving you a free Classic Beverage package we encourage you to upgrade prior to your sailing as you will pay the increased difference on board. If you purchase beforehand, it will come out to $10 per person plus a 15% gratuity. If you upgrade on board, this comes to $15 per person plus a 15% gratuity.

Has there also been a change in the term of the package. One used to be able to buy the remainder of the cruise as long as there were three days left. The current web site says that packages are only available for the total length of the cruise.

What is the policy?

One other question.....does this mean that if we find something stated on your web pages, then that is Celebrity's official policy? I ask because when on board, sometimes an individual with some power will decide that they have their own policy (e.g. dress code on formal night in Murano or Blu). Can we quote the web site as the official Celebrity policy?

Here is the question that ghstudio posed but it was never answered.

It's possible that the reason Celebrity raised the on board price was to discourage the people that were only signing up towards the end of their cruise.

If betterthanvegas is still reading this thread perhaps he/she could inquire while still on the ship about signing up for the beverage package during the cruise.

Of course, as with anything else, that response may just be accurate for the cruise he/she is currently on.

I phoned this morning at 8.30am on the dot. I spoke to a lovely lady called Dorothy. If they tell you the same, just ring back again. Good luck.

I signed up at 8:31... I was told that the price onboard would be higher.

I wanted to use our OBC and told our CC rep as well. She then wanted to sell excursions and I told her that many OBCs are non-refundable and prepaying gratuities, beverage packages and excursions would leave the casino as one of the few places to lose, er sorry, spend our credit.

It's time for Celebrity to allow cruisers to pre-commit their non-refundable OBC to spending on dining & beverage packages etc...

Well, if you believe the celebrity web site (vs our personal experience), you can't use the obc's from celebrity in the casino!!

There appears to be no way to find out what will happen on your specific cruise. Don't even bother to call celebrity to ask.....

The casino starts by giving you your money after taking the first 5%. :(

Yes, they charge your on board account .... However if you believe celebrity's claimed policy, the obc from celebrity will not pay for that casino charge or the amount you take out and you will have to pay the total amount at the end of the cruise, even if you have unspent celebrity obc's.

I agree completely. We have a large OBC for our upcoming cruise and would love to be able to use this for excursions and other things that are pre-paid.

It always has up until our last cruise in March... Have you experienced this since then?

Phoned at 8.30 to the number Gordoncruickshank gave (thank you) and the lady said certainly, no problem. Then when she asked when we were travelling she said that we weren't showing up on her system yet as it doesn't normally show till 6 to 3 months from sailing date, so could I please phone back nearer the time!

I'm just too keen......:D

I can confirm that all adults do not have to upgrade from Classic to Premium. When I told the representative in Enhancements that I wanted to upgrade from Classic to Premium, he asked if I wanted the upgrade for me or for both me and my wife. Very easy. We both origianlly had the Classic Package as part of the 1-2-3 promotion.

Upgraded today, yay. Spoke to a lovely lady in Enhancements Dept, deal done in 2 minutes. I post the phone number again for UK cruisers:

0844 4936207 then option 2.

Just phoned the number you gave and was upgraded to Premium package also in 2 minutes......nae problem :) I can feel the liver getting a bit twitchy already!

I phoned the enhancements department to upgrade. Very easy and very helpful. I only upgraded 1 of us (DW wants to remain classic :D). I asked how much on board to upgrade DW if she changed her mind, response was 'same price as yours'. Not saying that's correct but they should certainly know.
