Amenities changed for Nellie's Beach Cabanas Labadee

The description for the amenities that come with renting a cabana on Nellie's Beach has changed on the RCI website to the following:

"HIGHLIGHTS: Cabana rental for the full day. Furnished with luxury resort style lounge chairs and ceiling fan. Rental includes 2 floating beach mats, lunch buffet at Columbus Cove Cafe, Dragon's Cafe or Cafe Labadee, and the use of beach towels. Personal cabana attendant service."

Apparently, renting a cabana on Nellie's Beach no longer includes the upgraded lunch at Barefoot Beach or the cooler with ice and water. However, the price remains the same at $250 for the Over the Water ones and $225 for the Beach ones.

Having rented an Over the Water Cabana for our New Year's cruise on Allure when the description included the additional amenities, I am feeling somewhat short-changed over this. I have decided to think about this for a while before making a decision on whether to keep the cabana or cancel it. After I found out about this from another thread, I looked this up on RCI's site. I have not received notification from RCI that what I bought has been changed, not that I am really expecting a notification.

Just thought those that booked a cabana on Nellie's Beach when more was included might want a heads up on the changes.

I have one rented for next month. I'll argue for at least some onboard credit after the fact. It's fraud for them to sell me something and then provide me with less than what I paid for. I just read about it here, but this is just rumor. If I'm not notified by the company in advance of the cancel deadline, I can successfully argue for a reduced fee.

It is not a rumor. I called them yesterday and they confirmed this to me. They told me that cabanas on Nellie's had never got these upgrades and I must be mixing up with the ones on Barefoot beach. When I told them that I received the upgrades in March the girl told me I must be mistaken. I paid $ 250 for a over the water cabana and feel like I have been duped because these upgrades were included in the description when I booked it. Now I am getting less for the same amount. They said they will look into it and call me back on Monday so I will wait until then to make my mind up about cancelling it or keeping it.

I also sent an email regarding this . . we booked our cabana 11 months ago for our Xmas cruise, so I am curious to see that they say.

I would be interested to hear, IF RC gets back to you and what they have to say. It is a lot of money if they take the amenities away. We had an over the water in March and liked it so much that I have booked another for March 2015. It was nice having ice cold water and the buffet close by.

Post IF RC gets back to you.

I will post if they get back to me. I hope they tell me that this is all just a big mistake but I don't think they will tell me this. I checked on the Celebrity site and they changed the description on their cabanas also.

Who can we email about this?

We had an OTW cabana in March 2013, and loved it. It most certainly included the upgraded buffet - we were driven there (even though it was a short walk), and we had water. I was lucky to get that cabana before the price increase in early 2013.

We have one booked for next March too. I'm not sure if I'll cancel.

However, an important point about the buffet differences. For us, it was not so much the actual food offered, but the lineups! On our Liberty cruise a few years ago, we went to the normal buffet - and the line ups were plain silly (long). There were many empty trays of food- they could not restock quickly enough. It was certainly not a relaxing lunch.

Here is the e-mail they gave me shroex@RCCL.com . I asked for a phone number and they gave me 1 800 398 9819. I called because I hate waiting on someone to return with a reply.

That's ok, thanks! I will be sending off an e-mail today. Booked for December Holiday cruise 2014, and not for nothing but when you book they take your money immediately they should not change what you purchased...not without compensation anyways! I did read on my receipt that it is "subject to change" so we may be stuck.

I also booked our cabana quite awhile ago. I just checked our receipt also and it only said price and dated subject to change. There was nothing about amenity's subject to change on ours but as we all know they will do as they see fit. I am not sure if we will keep it. We are sailing on the Indy in Feb. This cruise has a large group on it and the cabanas are not sold out. I am hoping the group will be off doing something and the beach will not be as crowded as last March.

Yeah, that's absolutely not true. We had a beach cabana on Nellie's in March and absolutely got both and it was advertised as such on RCI's site until apparently very recently. I booked one for Allure in 4 weeks several months ago and both amenities were listed. If we weren't "supposed" to get them, why did the concierge and attendants make sure we had wrist bands and were escorted to and from lunch, etc? Plus we had a cooler with 3 large bottles of water. We've had a Barefoot Beach cabana a couple of times also when we were in GS and they were identical except for the actual use of Barefoot beach itself.

She was mistaken, but that's not unusual when calling RCI. We very well may cancel as the $225 I spent on this upcoming trip for one is a very expensive way to get shade.

Received a "we received your email" email...they claim to respond within 3 working days. I neglected to mention to them that when I rented the cabana in February not only was the upgraded buffet and water included, but I only paid $175 as opposed to the $250 I recently paid!

I also got the "received your email and you'll be contacted in 3 days" response. I did state in my email that I had the amenities in March and that we shouldn't have to pay the same price as those on Barefoot that get them and that when I booked months ago it listed them. We'll see. I know it wont hurt them if I cancel, because someone will grab it who doesn't realize or care, but it's the principle of the thing.

Just emailed them, as I just heard about this on my mix and mingle thread.

Might be too late for them to get back to me as we leave on the 13th. (fly 11th)

Hopefully someone hears back from rccl. Haven't decided one way or the other on keeping the booking as I have to talk to others in the group.

Shame, we were looking forward to it
