hi

looking at cruising on the ruby princess and the 2 dates we are looking at have a different itinary depending on the date. The last port of call is either nassau or grand turk.

we would like your opinion on which crusie you would pick as they both look amazing.

the rest of itinary is the same apart from the last port.

would like your opinion as never seem to get replies in the port of call forums

thanks

If you like to lay in the sun then I would go with Grand Turk, if you want a day of more shopping then Nassau. Right where the boat docks in Grand Turk there are only a handful of shops. We enjoyed our day at Margaritaville by the huge, lovely swimming pool and the beach looked nice.

A big vote "yes" for Grand Turk. The beach there is beautiful, which is the main reason I go on Caribbean cruises. Nassau is chock-full of shops, but many of them are the same ones you'll see in the other portside shopping areas during your cruise. I've been to Nassau several times and avoid it whenever possible.

I would avoid Nassau and opt for Grand Turks. The beach there is lovely. If you walk along the beach, left of the dock, you will come to a bar called Jack's Shack. A lot of the crew go there and it has a fun atmosphere. The beach in front of here is good for swimming and not as busy as by the dock. Jack is a real character. Whichever itinerary you choose, have a great cruise.

Second vote for Grand Turk and Jack's Shack.

Just don't give up too soon - turn left on the beach when you get off the ship and just keep walking (ON the beach!)

Nassau is the single worst port I have ever been to. I would avoid any itinerary that includes it, and if I couldn't avoid it, I would stay on the ship that day.

I TOTALLY agree!! I vote for Grand Turk, IMO Nassau is the worst port!!

Sounds like it depends on whether you want to shop or go to a beach.

We're beach people - hence my above vote for Grand Turk.

You nailed it, Karen!

Beach people: Grand Turk

Shopping people: Nassau

We're Beach people! :)

I cant be thrilled with either one--although, I'll vote for Grand Turk--just hurry to Margaritaville---We live at the beach and love beaches---but don't bother with the beach at Grand Turk--just Margaritaville--or stay on the ship-no.......Margaritaville!!

We have a time share in Nassau and go there every year. It is one of my favorite places but I can see how people hate it if they just get off the ship and stay in the shopping area. There are beautiful beaches in Nassau but you have to go to Paradise Island or to Cable Beach. There are a lot of private snorkeling and sailing excursions and Stuart Cove is the best for diving and snorkeling. I was bored in Grand Turk and not impressed with the crowded beach. GT is a mess with more than one ship in port. At least in Nassau you can get away from the crowds if you leave the port area.

I'm not a fan of Nassau either. The only good thing about this port was that I took my mom over to the Atlantis Resort that evening and let her gamble her heart away in the Casino. She loved to play slot machines and had a wonderful time there and she won. For me, that made this port good. Other than that Nassau was not at all what I expected. No desire to return. Go to Grand Turk.

I've been to Nassau a few times before and I never enjoyed it bc we were always docked there at weird times. Too late or too early to do snorkeling excursions, or ship left too early to eat at a locals type place, or ship docked so early 99% of the businesses outside the cruise ship terminal weren't even open yet. So I say take a look at the times you will be in port. If it's weird times I would skip which ever port has the weird time.
