Do Platinum/Diamond and FTTF board together?

Recommended Posts

It's really a crap shoot. Waiting in PC, all Diam/Plat and FTTF were in the vip area. When they called for Diam/Plat to board everyone in the lounge surged forward. CCL didn't check anybody's S&S card. Mass exodus.

Kind of frustrating to Diam/Plat's because early boarding was a perk to us for our loyalty at one time. Now you can just buy it.

Curious but when do suite people board and what room are we in prior to boarding. We are non plat, diamond, or FTTF people. Just regular lowly suite folks. :D

FTTF gets everything VIP does. Easy on, Easy off. First in line to islands on tenders. Access to dedicated phone line and at Guest Services counter. And they all seem to have lots and lots of children. Who sit in the lounge for check in..while old people with walkers and ditto stand. Also in the chairs set up outside of the lounge to handle the crowds. And watch for the children running around. easy to trip over one of the little darlings. .and it will be YOUR fault. It is a madhouse. At least on the Breeze.

Suited. Early on. Early off. That is it. On Princess and HAL if you book a suite..you are easy on and off...your breakfast is in a separate restaurant..cooked especially for you. Ditto Lunch on HAL. They have a special lounge for you. Free Laundry. I never have, but suites have nice perks. iIf you are spending that money.........why on Carnival? Casino cruise?

Oh sounds heavenly! LOL So as a suite person do i board when FTTF board, the plat, the diamond? Before or after all the above? I know suite people don't get much on Carnival but just wondered where I would fit in to all this. We cruised on NCL in a suite and it was soo nice! Got great bennies on those.

And each one of those FTTF covers everyone in the Cabin...so that is FIVE People. Five times X 50 could be an extra 250 people. And with the folks who get together, book a lot of people..say nine..under the same credit card and get it for all of them..and apparently they can..it is happening......add 250 more people.

500 PEOPLE added...for like $5 a person..hacking off the people who usually live in Florida, sail 4.5.6 or more times a year.............

It is BAD MANAGEMENT. BAD BUSINESS. IT IS NOT AN ISSUE OF SNOBBERY. IT IS AN OBVIOUS CASE SOME ARE HOAXING THE SYSTEM.

Next cruise you are on...Look at the VIP line. See if it does not have a big FTTF to the fun sign..and if you do need to talk to anyone at the desk. Get in the regular Line. Much quicker. Or go early in the morning or late at night.

Couldn't agree more...........

Princess does have better suite perks BUT you pay alot of money for the suite. The mini suites have no perks at all on Princess.

I'm sailing on the Splendor next year with some friends. :D I'm Platinum but my friend is not (she's Gold). We are in different cabins. She has bought FTTF for this cruise. We would love to board together!! My question is, do Platinum/Diamond and FTTF board together or do they board Platinum/Diamond first, then FTTF? I have been on a ship that has FTTF but somehow didn't notice if they were boarding the groups together or separately.

Thanks!! :D

In Ft Lauderdale, Wedding parties, then Diamond/Platinum, Suites, then FTTF, in that order were ushered from their waiting areas to the door. FTTF were not seated in the lounge with Diamond/Platinum & Suites.

We just returned on Sunday from a New Orleans based cruise, and Diamond/Platinum/Suites/FTTF were all seated in the same roped off area, next to the wedding parties. All groups were processed through a "Priority" room where snacks & drinks were available. They called the wedding parties first, but the Diamond/Platinum/Suites/FTTF were called together and co-mingled as they boarded the ship. No special priority was given to one or the other.

On debarkation, the Diamond/Platinum were seated on the right side of the dining room, the FTTF & Suites on the left. When they called for Zone 1, we again, were co-mingled as we left the ship.

Suite passengers have priority embarkation/debarkation, and are processed as such. Generally, they are seated with the diamond/platinum passengers, ahead of the FTTF (at least that's what I've observed on my last two cruises).

Sadly, for the extra money they pay for the suite, the priority embarkation/debarkation are the only perks they receive. If you can, I'd suggest getting the FTTF for the extras.....

It goes to show how things can change for week to week at the same port. We got off a cruise a week earlier in New Orleans. On ours the FTTF didn't check in with the Diamond and Platinums and when we left the dinning room for debarkation, the FTTF on the left side were held until the Diamond and Platinum were gone. :)

I don't know how the 10 people could possibly be under one cabin's FTTF. It's sold by the cabin and it doesn't matter what credit card they're under. Who told you that those 10 people got FTTF on their Sail & Sign?

I'm not doubting your experience in getting off the ship - but I don't see how self-assist has anything to do with FTTF people. I'm sure it must have been a very bad experience because you've told it so many times = I sincerely hope that you find a way to get over this. It's tragic to let this eat at you so badly. I believe you said that after the one cruise you've already booked, you'll be leaving Carnival and I think that this would be the best thing for you.

You obviously had a bad experience - but the majority of Platinum/Diamond people don't seem to share your opinion. I do wish you well.

Well according to many of these posts, it's dependent on where you're sailing from.

From NYC the suites go in the same lounge as diamond/platinums.

How many cabins actually have five people in them? Very few are even configured for 5. And not all of us who buy FTTF will be killing ourselves to get off the ship. As far as 10 people going under one account, that shouldn't happen and if it does it's a failure on the port personnel.

Your debarcation problems continue to sound a lot more like an issue with self-debark than with FTTF.

I had a suite in August and sailed out of Port Everglades, I sat in the VIP room and boarded with the Plats and diamonds.

If more Diamond & Platinum cruisers were booked on a cruise, there would be fewer FTTF......Carnival is a business, and like any business, they're not going to let an opportunity to make some extra $$ go by.

Each of those FTTF cruisers are also working their way toward Platinum & Diamond status, and Carnival knows that holding that carrot out there by way of FTTF is garnering their loyalty for the future.

Upsells for suites give folks who might be in tight quarters with three or four more room, and while they don't get all the FTTF perks, Carnival no doubt also sees them as loyal customers for the future too. The upgrades and upsells are based on availability, as with the FTTF.

If those high & mighty Diamond & Platinum cruisers also booked suites instead of interiors, ocean views or balconies to complete their wanting to be all that, regular folks wouldn't ever have a chance to cruise in a suite.

On the length of the cruise. I noted two different experiences out of NOLA. On the Conquest, FTTF was separated from diamond/platinum, but on the Elation, they were together. The Conquest may attract more Plat/Diamond passengers, and knowing this, the port accommodates them, where the shorter Elation cruise, they do not have as many, so let them all on at the same time.

Makes sense, we had 200+ Platinums on the Conquest and a few Diamonds.

In Miami, suite passengers sat in the regular boarding area with FttF people, but were called when Platinum and Diamond were called. (Wedding parties were also called at the same time, but that's because ALL boarding was delayed until noon due to the child drowning in the pool the day before.)

FttF guests were called a few minutes after that.

Miami now has different boarding placards for FttF. Instead of just "Priority" they now say "Priority" with the FttF logo, so as to differentiate them from Diamonds and Plats.

Nahh. The average per FttF slot would be around 3 people, maybe closer to 2 (since there may be a few people travelling solo who book FttF).

3 x 30 slots = 90 people. And that's if they open up all 30 slots; if there are a lot of Plats and Diamonds on the sailing they would only open 15 slots.

In my experience (two cruises with FttF) there were never more than two people waiting in the Plat/Diamond/FttF line at Guest Services at any time. That's GOOD management.

That is not the way it should happen, keep those fttf people away from the Dia/Plat's, make them wait like they should.

Yeah, and lock us below deck when the sun goes down too, cause you know we're all a bunch of ne're-do-well hooligans...

Hey, hang on a second. As a platinum cruiser I know when you throw those big words around you are trying to confuse me. Isn't a hooligan an Irish bar restaurant chain?;)
