I wonder if the OP went to Staples and made a copy he would expect it for free --

I wonder if you really read this thread - clearly you don't understand it.

The point is HAL, I'm sure, would be liked to be perceived as an upscale, prestigious, quality cruise line. When management decides its worthwhile to peddle 25 cent boarding passes, that surely diminishes from that perception.

For all of those who made it personal, let me tell you I always book verandas or suites, don't smuggle alcohol aboard, use all the ship's services and probably drop a grand in the casino each cruise so stick to the issue.

And that is my point-- you wouldn't go into another retail establishment and expect the free printing. A 25 cent charge is a nit.

I don't smuggle and always only take 1 bottle of champers on board so don't assume that is what I was I was alluding to.

HAL is a BUSINESS -- they are not a NONPROFIT at the least they are trying to cover costs.

Considering that their other prices are better than most retail establishment ie - bars/restraunts -- drinks are less for example even with tips than here in SC. I don't think you have a leg to stand on.

…….

HAL is a very nice mainline cruise line. I have never thought of HAL as

"upscale and prestigious". I see HAL primarily as a high-value cruise line in which I appreciate they are looking after the bottom line, so we can still afford to visit all those far away places with strange sounding names without paying the "upscale and prestigious" prices. If they need to cut a few corners to keep doing this, we will just go with the flow, as long as we don't have to start rowing. :p

Why would you print a boarding pass if you are on the ship? For a B2B? The second leg of your cruise? I don't understand this.

The convenience of being able to print your boarding pass while out at sea is certainly worth 25 cents.

Ahhhhh, I see.Why not just wait till you get to the airport and print it for free?

Cause if you're flying Southwest, printing out your boarding card a day early vs at the airport is the difference between sitting by your DW in a location of your choice and sitting apart in middle row seats half a plane apart...

Oh, OK, that makes sense. I don't fly Southwest, so I didn't know.

Not true. You can check in early and get your A/B/C group and number, but there is no need to print it. You can do that when you get to the airport, for free. Edited by catl331

Carol's right. I fly Southwest when I fly domestic, and I never print out a boarding pass---at home, or on the ship. I do like to check in, though.

I believe the ship gave me a boarding pass for Southwest when I used Luggage Direct, but don't recall. I do know it would have been paid for in the LD fee, with no additional charge for the boarding pass.

Now THAT'S funny. :D

yebbut, yebbut..... all those 25 cents might add up to a cruise fare one day.:D

Seriously though, I don't think I had to pay to print my boarding pass on Royal Caribbean, when I used to fly back from LAX. And the internet was cheaper on their ships, but oh so slow. But it likely was added to my onboard account.

Not to veer off course here but Luggage Direct is the way to go...what a bargain at $20 per person. Put our bags outside our room on Saturday night and didn't see them again until we landed in Boston late Sunday!

I appreciate your view and commend you for being one of the very few responders who actually addressed the issue I was raising.
