The Upsell Fairy Called Me!

I felt obligated to let people on my roll call know first. ;)

So, I'm just going to cut and paste what I wrote there for the rest of ya.

 

Yes, I got the upsell. It wasn't the greatest offer. It was $1000.00 to go from M2 Mini-Suite to Haven 2-bedroom but DH said all he wanted was to get the price below $2,000 per person (total) and he'd be okay with booking it. I was hoping for an upsell fairy call but I was also just watching the website to see if it would come down below $2,000 per person. Well with their offer we were definitely under that so I went ahead and booked it. The best part, I put it on a personal credit card so DH won't be able to see the charge. This will be a surprise for him. :D

 

I wonder if I should have held out and just said no and hoped for a better offer but I thought I better not chance it. As I look right now there are still 3 suites left with 8 days to go so I didn't think my chances of them calling me back for the second lower round of prices would be high. I hope I made the right decision. :o

 

When she called and said her name was Jessica I knew who was calling right away. I had to put the phone on mute and I "squealed" like a school girl and co-workers in the hall way came into my office like "what what what" so I let them listen. All the while she was describing everything in the Haven (that I already knew about) I was so excited I felt like I could pee my pants....I mean pirates of penzance ;). By the time she got done I had my composure back. So I calmly listened while I crunched numbers and I already had a spreadsheet of the rooms I'd like so she offered me one room but I asked her for a different one. Yeah spreadsheet...just a tad OCD. :p

 

So I got it and I'm happy and I'm in here trying to stay away from DH so I don't spill the beans. This is going to be the best cruise ever! If ever I was going to have a Suite this was the time to do it because usually I choose a very port intensive itinerary but with three sea days we are really really really going to enjoy this!

For those who are blessed enough to be able to afford a Suite whenever you cruise, I can't wait to get a taste of what your life is like. :D I am so grateful though to be able to do this for my family. We cruise and have fun vacations a couple of times per year but I would not have been able to afford this at the time we booked (back in March). With all the unexpected expenses from medicals the past several years, it's just ...I just feel like crying and I feel silly. This is just such a blessing and I can't wait to surprise them.

Our first upsell and taste of suite life was on the Epic. It was FANTASTIC. Not sure what room you're in, but we were in 16016. The location was fantastic. The Epic Club is amazing. Posh is fantastic. OMG you're going to love it. To say I'm jealous is an understatement. :)

You are going to LOVE the suite life!!! Enjoy every minute!! From the second you tell anyone in the cruise terminal your a Haven guest your instantly treated like royalty. And your on the Epic which has a private dining room for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. Having that option is so much nicer than the suite life on the Jewel class ships where you only have private breakfast/lunch options as a suite guest. Have a great cruise! You will be spoiled :D

I'm looking forward to hearing all about it! We are in the 2-bedroom Haven on the Epic in January -- the same itinerary. It will be our first cruise so any tips you offer will be appreciated!

 

One thing to be aware of -- I received an envelope in the mail this week that had a card in it thanking me for booking in the Haven. You might not have enough time to get one, but be on the lookout for it so it doesn't spoil the surprise. The funny thing is that my husband didn't receive one -- and he is the person who did the actual booking.

Haha, I'm so happy it worked for you.

When I got the upsell, I too kept it a secret. I managed to not tell hubby until we were in line. I was so excited, I almost couldn't stand it.

My husband actually thought I had cracked from too much stress at work, when I asked the guy at the cruise terminal if there was a special line for suite passengers. He actually hissed at me "what are you doing" in a totally appalled tone, "we're not in a suite!" I shushed him and said "yes we are", and dragged him over to the VIP line. He still talks about how shocked he was, because I am known as little miss honesty, and he thought I was lying to get on board faster.

 

He absolutely loved it. We both did. For cruises with lots of sea days, a suite will definitely be on our wish list.

Congrats!!! I surprised DH a couple of years ago on Jewel. We had booked an aft-facing suite, so he wasn't surprised about being directed to the suite guests lounge before boarding. But I didn't tell him about the upsell offer to an owner's suite, all the way forward, with access to the Haven. He didn't even notice that we were being escorted to the bow instead of the stern, and I had my phone out to get video of him seeing the suite when we walked in and as I pointed out all the features. It was priceless! This was our first suite, and I had that same feeling of being so fortunate and blessed to have a chance at that experience. Enjoy every minute!

Thank you everyone for the congrats and uplifting words! I really appreciate it. I'm so thankful there are so many helpful and positive people on this board. Sharing with you all helped me to keep my mouth shut to DH about all this. I know he had to be wondering why I was giving him the weird grin all night. I've never written a review before but I will definitely take lots of pictures and post a review about my experience on the Epic in the Haven. :)
