suni Posted November 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2013 We are traveling on the Reflection for a one week cruise with other couples. We all are in Aqua Class Suites / Blue Dining Room . My honey and I would like to have a night alone and we would to try one of the specialty restaurants. Any recommendations on which night is the best night for a break and which dining venue do you suggest?
Lsimon Posted November 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) I'd pick a night between 1/2 and 2/3 of the way through the cruise. Save the first few nights for making friends and socializing. Save the last couple nights for friends as well. Pick a night when you don't have to get up early the next morning so you can stay up late. Waiting until mid cruise will also give you a chance to check out the menu and ambiance at a couple of the specialty restaurants and see which you'd prefer. Muranos is the most elegant and is the one we'd pick for a special night but not everyone would agree. You should check them all out pre cruise and pick the one with the menu you like the most and make a reservation so you'll have it if they are fully booked. Then once you are on board you can re-visit the decision and if you find you've changed your mind you can change your reservation if any are available or even make a second reservation and enjoy both! Phxazzcruisers Posted November 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I would look at the menu in the afternoon for each evening and pick a night that does not have a WOW item on it. It is difficult for us, as we love Blu, but a Specialty restaurant would be a nice date night change. Enjoy
miched Posted November 17, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2013 That is one of the problems with cruising with another couple. Wouldn't it be rather awkward to book a specialty restuarant without your friends? If not why not just suggest that some night you would want to dine in Blu by yourself? 🎅🎄
Rare Lois R Posted November 17, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) That is one of the problems with cruising with another couple. Wouldn't it be rather awkward to book a specialty restuarant without your friends? If not why not just suggest that some night you would want to dine in Blu by yourself? Maybe they all know ahead time about this so maybe it won't be awkward at all. Maybe they discussed the dining thing at home and the friends know this couple want to do a Specialty restaurant on their own. Oh, it looks like they said they are cruising with other "couples" so the it is not like 1 person is being left alone. akowilm Posted November 20, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2013 We loved the service and the intimacy of Murano, and the food was outstanding!
Gianni15 Posted November 20, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 20, 2013 I agree with Larry, midway into the cruise would be the best time to venture out and try the specialty restaurant. Enjoy :)
Tiggertastic Posted November 20, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2013 we travel with friends but we have one night that we have a meal for just the two of us in a specialty. The menu does not change so it doesn't matter which day you go but as others have said keep the end for friends. We go a couple with or friends that chose one that is a port day - this way it is a relaxing end to a fun day We keep the end for them as we live 1000s of miles apart and only see them once or twice a year
Rare ghstudio Posted November 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2013 It can be a bit tricky scheduling a nice "date night". Ideal would be on a sea day with another sea day after...so you could sleep late. Those don't generally come in the middle of a cruise.....so it's really up to understanding which mornings are "early starts", etc. I too would vote for murano...it's the most elegant and romantic. Tuscan grill is excellent food with a great view, but just doesn't have the ambiance of murano.
warmwinds Posted November 20, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 20, 2013 They'll all get to talk aboutcha when you're not there :) Once at a table of 3 couples who had never met (who became quick friends) we all went to the specialty restaurant on different nights (by coincidence) - it was nice to get to know the other couple one-on-one instead of the group dynamic.
