Funny story about the "nasty syrup"

So, I just got back from the Sky, and one of my favorite things to do is have a nice breakfast in the main dining room before hitting the road. This morning I chose the French toast, which I normally enjoy. :)

 

Prior to bringing the toast & side of sausage, one of the waiters brought over a small silver container of syrup. When my food arrived, I poured the syrup over the French toast and sausage, noting that it looked a little thin and runny. :confused:

 

As I bit into the toast, I noticed it tasted really off. I took a couple more bites, and remarked to my husband, "You know, there were several threads on Cruise Critic about the new syrup being bad. They were right - this stuff is awful!" Of course, I continued to eat it, lol. :rolleyes:

 

As we finished, one of the waiters came over to see how we were doing, and to see if we wanted more coffee...and at that point he took the "syrup container" and refilled my cup...:eek:

 

Yes...I poured COFFEE on my French Toast and sausage and ate it. LOL!! :D

If there hadn't been so much written about the "nasty" syrup, no doubt you would have questioned something right away :eek:

Funny thread but not sure why all the fuss about syrup. Most inexpensive syrups are nasty tasting. Real maple syrup is very good but at a price. Just use powdered sugar because it is so much better than fake maple syrup.

 

Why more don't complain about the fake powdered scrambled eggs in the MDR or buffet is more surprising to me.

 

I love a great big breakfast, especially on vacation. I work and don't usually have time for anything than some quick oatmeal and a banana. I love to eat breakfast out in a restaurant. I have seen the quality of breakfast decline over the years on NCL and it is not just the syrup. The French toast is not the same either. The homemade waffles are flat and greasy. You can score a much better breakfast at Denny's than even the Epic Club IMHO.

That's hilarious and also upsetting that there are yet more reviews saying the "new" syrup is nasty. :( I love to eat their waffles for breakfast along with the yummy whipped cream on top. I'm now wondering if I will be able to eat it. :o

The wife did this once at an IHOP on her pancakes. They wanted to replace them. Nope she just added some syrup and enjoyed every bite. She loves her coffee.
