Dcoy Posted December 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 24, 2013 The only restrictions I can think of is that you may not be able to video any production shows on the ship. They usually make an announcement about this at show time Have a great time. Don

Karysa Posted December 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 24, 2013 While on tours of the bridge and galley are you allowed to bring cameras and camcorders? Tripods are not allowed for some excursions. We have been to churches in Italy for instance where they weren't allowed.
fishycomics Posted December 24, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) No one can stop you from a camera or camcorder at all. The theater shows you are allowed to take non-flash photos. Listen to the announcements. It's your cruise, enjoy it. This shot is taken per announcements instructions, no flash. and if you care to see video, just let us know. Monopods are great they are more compact than a tripod and can be used in many ways. Bonnie J. Posted December 24, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 24, 2013 When we took the real behind the scenes tour, (Engine control room, laundry, galley & into freezers, bridge, etc., all cell phones & cameras were taken from us to pick back up AFTER tour was over. As has been said, you can't video any of the shows in the theater but can video groups playing in lounges.

paul929207 Posted December 24, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Off the ship, some sites will prohibit cameras. I remember we could not take pictures in the Egyptian museum in Cairo. Other sites will charge a fee for using a camera.

On DCL, there is no flash photography or video recording allowed during the production shows. There is an announcement made at each show as well as a note in the daily activity paper stating this. The individual entertainers (comedians, magicians, etc) will sometimes allow photos/video recordings.

Tripods are not allowed for some excursions. We have been to churches in Italy for instance where they weren't allowed. If you feel that you want or need to increase camera stability a bit and are not allowed or do not want to carry a tripod, you have 3 options in order of decreasing stabilizing usefulness - 1) A monopod. You can get monopods that look like walking sticks or walking sticks w a tripod screw on top if you are afraid that they will not even allow monopods; or 2) A chainpod. You can drop them into your pocket; or 3) a beanbag. DON Edited December 24, 2013 by donaldsc

fishycomics Posted December 24, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 24, 2013 not here to decifer each and every single character, what is right or wrong is how each individual looks at it. to see a production show grab a few seconds will not harm the world. :D

I want to correct myself - there is no photography (stills or video) at all allowed in the production shows. There was a time that only flash photography wasn't allowed. They had trouble with people doing it anyway, as well as the video displays on the back of the cameras, even when not using the flash, that they started prohibiting flash photography and requesting that video displays be turned off. That didn't work, so now it's no photography at all. In the daily Navigator the actual wording is (bolding and underlines mine): Theatrical performances may use artificial fog, strobe lights, pyrotechnics, and other special effects. For the safety of our performers and the comfort of those around you, the use of any photography, video recording device, or any electronic equipment is prohibited.
