OK well we know that's not going to happen -- so I guess we'll go non AI.. I'm guessing that if I read thru all these pages, there is a menu here ??? lol

Can you roughly tell me how to do this... should I book in advance, wait until we get there or what ? Definitely want the pool with lounge chairs/unbrellas etc... What do you suggest we do? There are 4 of us... How much is this going to cost us? Thanks again

Yes, I did post a menu, but will post again so you don't have to search for it.

We booked in advance, but I honestly don't remember how. It might have been directly with Mr Sanchos. I probably put it in my review when doing the review on this portion, but would have to go back and read it to see. You can just google it and see the packages to pick from (they also have menus on there as well).

Just be aware that if you do the non-AI, the pool is VERY VERY small and only about 4 feet deep. It's usually used by all the little kids.

The AI side is the side with the HUGE pool with the swim up bar and the bar stools in the water. Since I have been they have added yet another pool as well from what I have read (and they were working on it when we were there last).

This is quite a hefty thread and I'll admit I skimmed, but since there isn't a PM feature on this forum...

Any idea on why the AI menu lists every single price?

That seems odd, especially when I read you wrote they have different menus on each side.

As a sidebar, I knew those conversion rates were horrible. If you bought PAYG, the pesos prices is half the dollars price.

Because the non-AI side is a pay as you go and that's probably the amount charged for each item if you are over there. :)

Wait, I wrote there's different menu's over there? I don't recall writing that (I don't even recall looking at a menu over on that side because we didn't order anything over there and only went over to let our little one swim).

Hmm, I don't really remember. I obviously found out that information from another thread back then, that they had another menu. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :(

But the point of your comment is still the same... despite the prices being on the menu, everything to eat/drink was still included in the AI price (currently $55 per adult) with the exception listed in other threads of liquor shots.

Seems like a good deal to me. If lunch was $10-15 a person, the beach chairs at many places being around $10 a person (and free here), a snack being around $5... you wouldn't need many drinks to make up that $25-30 you're spending.

Although, I do wonder if I bought pesos before a trip if I could come out a bit ahead. However, that seems like a lot of trouble.

Going out of New Orleans did you find the trek down the Mississippi River to be interesting at all? We heard that if you stay up and wait until you get to the Gulf, you can see the lit up oil riggers out in the Gulf. did you see this?

Well, quite honestly, we are not one's that like to just sit around and watch the scenery. We will pop out on the deck several times for pictures and then head off to a show, the casino, or some of the activities. So, all I can really say is yes, there are lit up things (buildings and oil riggers) along the way to see, but I personally don't find it interesting, so I don't spend much time looking at them. :)

This is probably the only thread that I took a few pictures along the way that night (which you have probably seen within this review). While the lights reflecting off the water is very beautiful, it's very hard to photograph night pictures with lights while moving...especially with a point and shoot camera. :D

Ok people....are you ready for this? The FISH SPA! I was like what in the world? I had to check it out. People sitting in there while the fish ate away at their feet skin. Um...ok. I ?guess? it makes sense??? It was just odd. I can't imagine too many people doing this because most people are ticklish, but I sure did see a lot of people going in and out and sitting in the chairs with their feet in the aquarium. I however, am not ticklish and could have done it if there was time. I would be interested in knowing what they charge for it. Imagine coming home to family and friends telling them the fish cleaned your feet.

This was the shower and restroom area. I thought it was pretty neat looking. You walked up all these stairs to it and it was kinda pretty. I was already at the top when I took this picture.

I snapped some pictures of the menu. I did find out after I returned home (from another thread) that the PAYG side menu is different than the AI side.

I swore if I ever ended up at another place that had this, I'd do it. (I'm not ticklish anywhere, so it wouldn't bother me...I just had no idea what it was for or about when we went this time around).

Buy your own fish  :D I never thought of that. Can you buy these fish? LOL

Thanks for joining. I know how hectic it is right now. I am trying so hard to get all my pictures together and in order and get this review done that I have neglected everything else at home. I just wanna get it over with. LOL

I honestly don't know how I got VIP. It seems to happen randomly. I got VIP one other time and it was on the Pearl...for no rhyme or reason. They never did say.

You got vip because you organized the m and g.

So after reading your review it made me realize how much I wanted to do Jewel of the Seas because it is the only Royal Caribbean ship that I could find that goes to St Croix which we really wanted to visit. My only concern is that we have to fly to San Juan and just checking some of the airline prices for this year they are rather expensive. I was kinda surprised because it is only like a 4 hour flight. We are booked for next year so I have a lot to research before we go.

I wanted to ask you what hotel did you stay at before your trip and was it nice would you recommend it ? How were the prices ? Also did you have to stay an extra day when you got off of the ship? As you know I will be traveling with an 9 yr old and 6 yr old so trying to make this as easy as possible :)

Thanks

We stayed in several hotels actually. El Conquistador was AMAZING and their private island was absolutely beautiful!!! We were in San Juan for several days prior to the cruise so that allowed us to move around. Then we moved over to the Isla Verde area and stayed at the El San Juan Resort & Casino. At the time we were there, they were remodeling and the day we checked out, they were closing down to finish the remodel. But I bet it looks amazing now! After we returned, we stayed at the Sheraton in Old San Juan. Moving around gave us the ability to check out different things each time. You can find all these places in my Fascination cruise listed in my signature line. Yes, we stayed a day after and then had a later flight out the following day. By far, it was the best vacation we've ever done! :D
