9 Day Ruby versus a B2B-5 day,then 4day

If I decide to book a 9 day Ruby Princess cruise on March 1 instead of doing a B2B 5 day and 4 day, will I be required to disembark in Fort Lauderdale on that turnaround day? The total cruise days are equal but I really do not want to have to disembark and/or change cabins.

Thanks in advance.

You can stay on board . They will give instruction on where to meet and escort you thru customs and back on board. Also you'll get two cruise credits instead of one.

Thanks.

Any idea how long this takes to do? Sounds like I am really being made to do a back to back anyway with re-embarkation even though I have booked a 9 day trip. Doesn't sound too good to me.

My only reason for considering doing a 9 day was so that I would not have to change cabins, which is still possible but if I don't plan on leaving the ship I don't understand why I have to go through customs when Princess website is advertising this as a 9 day cruise?

Thanks again to all of you experts! I may choose to sail solo so it may be worth the "inconvenience" of going through customs if I net 4 cruises by doing this?!

Will the Captain's Circle honor this even if I book it as a 9 day cruise?

The other option is to book the Royal on March 2.

You were out of the USA and customs regulations require it. Also, I don't believe that you get two cruise credits with the nine day (we are doing the same cruise and only thought of doing it in two segments after booking and making final payment). If you want to keep the same cabin you have a good chance of being able to do that if you just book the same cabin on both legs of the two separate segments and ask to be marked no upgrade on both. By the way, there are way more cabins showing available on both of the two legs vs the one nine day.

Yes, but it will not occur automatically.

Either speak with the CC rep during the second segment or call Princess after the cruise.

OK, if I am reading you correctly then we may have a chance at getting credit for two cruises (ie:btb) instead of just the one because we booked the nine day. Thanks for the hint. We will check it out and report back what we find out. :)

Several years ago We booked two seven day cruises as a 14 day cruise as it was a bit less expensive, and then after the fact called captains Circle and they split it apart. Assume they will still do this?

Last June we did a 14 day Alaska cruise . When we got back I sent a Email to the Captain's Circle group and got credit for two seven day cruises.

We are booked on a 9 day and were told that it will not count as 2 voyages.

If it was available to book as two voyages booked b2b then call Princess and get it straightened out. They should give you two cruise credits.

Call after the cruise is over or speak with the Captain's Circle rep on the ship during the 2nd segment.

If you are due any perks you stand a chance of getting them 2X by doing a 5 and then a 4. Also, I am not 100% sure how Princess price drops work, but you may have a better chance catching a price drop on one segment or another, or both as compared to 1 nine day sailing. Are the prices equal at this point in time? If so book separate and take double perks. Just my opinion what I would do.

Usually have to compare the perks both ways as depending on the lengths of the segments the results can be different.

Elite mini-bar setup: Does not matter. Will get a new setup each segment no matter how booked

Platinum/Elite free minutes: Does not matter. Will get new minutes each segment no matter how booked.

Military and stock OBC: No difference. 4 days = $50, 5 days= $50 9 days (single booking number)=$100

OBC from using a FCC: 4 days = $15/$25, 5 days =$15/$25 9 days (single booking number) = $50/$100 In this case, booking as a single cruise is better.

Loyalty credit: each cruise gets it. Top Loyalty: 4 day = $100. 5 day = $100. Nine day = $100. ;)

I was told by travel agent I booked with that it counts as one cruise. Did shareholders request and got the OBC amount for longer cruise. Same for FCC. Will take it up with Princess Circle representative once onboard but my guess is that this will be considered one cruise. We'll see.

We did a 15 day Hawaii cruise in October and we spoke to the Loyalty representative on board the second week to see about getting credit for two cruises (it would put us up to Platinum) and she told us that since it was one cruise we only get one credit. I was disappointed, to say the least.

Not sure what you were expecting here. This was not a b2b but was a single cruise segment. One cruise segment = 1 cruise credit no matter how short or long the segment is.

How can you get credit for two cruises when a 15 day cruise is sold only as a 15 days cruise? There are no segments.

Your pessimism is showing. You WILL get credit for two; just ask. Your TA needs education.

If I do decide to sail this itinerary as a solo, it really may be worth it to me as it is sold as either a 9 day or a 5day/4 day which would give me 4 cruise credits quite quickly and advance my Platinum status close to Elite if I do this.

Thanks for the advice and insight on this.
