Finally! The Upgrade Fairy visits...

Did you get a corner aft by chance? :D

Well, ya know, I never even looked if they were open;) I saw the 4 were open on deck 8 and went for one of those. Deck 7 is above the Spot Light Lounge, and although no one on the Aft threads has ever complained about it, my DM is a very early to bed person and even regular stuff going on at 9 or 10 is going to keep her up. She hits the casino after dinner and then hits the hay when she runs out of nickels:p On 8 we have the fitness room and spa above, I expect thats pretty quiet at night. It might be noisy in the AM but both DM and I are up early anyway (and Im likely to be IN the fitness room) and DD can sleep through a herd of elephants!)

After looking at photos of the cabin. I am really thinking SHE should go on the pull out couch if it will be near the balcony, and she can pull the curtain, and DD and I can slip in later at night, use the bath and not disturb her.

YEA YOU FamilygoBoston!!! :) Where are you located up there? You have some pretty rough weather headed your way .... I was born in Billerica, MA ... my husband in Weymouth, MA. We lived in Marshfield, MA on the coast (about 1/2 way between Boston and Cape Cod) for most of our married life (almost 45 years now!) and moved here to GA 8 1/2 years ago for the warm and family .... not much warm lately tho, thinking I need to go further south! LOL!! Be safe up there now and just think of your beautiful trip and cabin coming up!! Again .... YEA YOU!!! :)

Thanks!! You sound like a South Shore person, we are metro west...just west of the city. The flakes just started, but it's been like this all winter, a snowstorm, then 50's and rain for 2 days:( I kinda like NE weather (or I wouldn't live here) and while I don't love the inconvenience of the snowstorms, (which in MA is more about the gridlocked traffic than anything else) I sure miss my snow sticking around for the season!

Congratulations! Enjoy your wonderful suite. Looking forward to your review and pictures.

WOW - enjoy!

Thanks, we will, and I will review...I was on the fence about doing it, just because it's so much harder without DH's fab photos, but on the other hand I have all those lonely evenings to make notes while mom sleeps and DD hangs out with the teens till all hours!;) But I do like doing the reviews, so I will fire up the Nikon AW 110 and make it work!

Congratulations! Woo Hoo!

Thanks!!

Really happy for you and your family! Enjoy. A few years ago we had booked four in a JS and got upgraded to the Owners Suite.

Now, there's a nice upgrade Sam!! How did they get you back down on the farm after that!!?? But I think you always book JS, yes?

Hope you and Dianna had wonderful holidays and New Year!!

Actually we don't usually do JS. We did one on the Jewel with you because our calendar forced us into a five day cruise. Figured that if we were going for less time we could upgrade a bit. We booked the JS on Enchantment because we were putting four in one room and wanted the extra space. The only other JS was our very first cruise. So that's three of thirteen.

Woohoo! Congrats. We aren't big aft fans, but those aft suites on Enchantment are huge. A big plus with three people :D!

Well we do need a good mix of humps and afts ;)

The distance is an issue for some folks, I tend to like the forced exercise plan;) for a person who regularly bikes over 20 miles, skis 5-6 miles and is happy to hike or walk the dog 2 miles, I get a little itchy on a cruise ship anyway- nothing ever feels "far" to me ;)

Talked to mom tonight, she's over the moon! She loves her room service breakfast every morning and I don't think I have to worry about her walking, I'm not sure she's planning to leave the cabin...ever:D

That's amazing!!! Congrats!!!

The Royal Suite is still showing available for my AOS cruise on 2/23.....I'm D+ and already in an OS......so it would seem logical wouldn't it? LOL :p One can dream.....right???

Hey the upgrade fairy was busy on the AOS last weekend;) so maybe she'll hear your plea.

JK -so glad you got the upgrade treatment.

There's a dress code? I can't follow it if my bag doesn't arrive on board, and who is going to make sure of that. ;)

I love these posts, hearing your upgrade stories is a good feeling!

We were booked on Grandeur in August 2012 on deck 3, 3rd forward cabin. It was originally an OV guarantee so a good deal & when our room was assigned I thought oh well, a week with no kids who cares. Two days before the cruise I get a call from RCI asking if we would like to pay for an upgrade to a JS - £300 in total (roughly $200 at the time) and of course I paid up. I was so excited!

Anyway he gave us an aft on deck 7, it was amazing, a sun trap. Not diamond yet (22 points to go) and booked balcony for our next one. This was our aft balcony & worth every penny :p

Nice upgrade! Thanks for posting the picture. My DD, Cruise Em was asking about what it looks like!
I'm hoping it's nice and warm! This is a Bahamas cruise and mom says it's been 40s this week in southern fl- so a little solar energy would be most appreciated right now!
That will be SWEET:D, at least for the extra money you do get those extra bennies, (lounge and seating etc) It's always a waiting game to see what will happen. We are sailing 2/17, it's mid week, which I think helps, even though its winter break in NE and the north, I think airfare is so high that it's not worth it to fly for such a short cruise.

With so many JS open I was hesitant to pay to upgrade too, I figured they'd want those cheaper cabins to unload last minute, we are half way to D+ so we are getting there, but I don't hold out much hope because there are so many higher status folks and I'm a frugal yankee who really doesn't exactly break the piggy bank every time I cruise:rolleyes: So yes, we are happy, but the rep was sure to tell me no double points, but that fine too, I'm not much of a point collector really, it's all about the trip, and I am looking forward to this one!:D

I'll look for your review after next week!
Wow! They upgraded you for free this early! I am so happy for you! Supposedly they traditionally wait until a week or less to do those upgrades, but I really could not know for sure since I still have never been visited by the illusive upgrade fairy. Oh well, I am just happy that some of my cruise mates are getting a visit!! :D

My cruise is also mid week and I waited (hoping for the upgrade) up until 10 days before my cruise date. Did not happen, so that was when I decided to do it myself though it cost more. I did the same thing on my Freedom cruise last month, and upgraded myself from D1 to JS, but that one was for no cost when I saw those price decreases just three days before I sailed. The JS came in at 20.00 less than what I paid for the D1! That was the sweet one! It does indeed pay to keep watching!

Enjoy your cruise!! My sister is on the Valentines weekend cruise just before you. Under my recommendation, she went with JS aft cabin #8172. We had that one for our anniversary last year. Sweet cabiin!! :D Edited by island lady

Surprise, we were. On the 1 Dec Navigator we were booked in a GS. Had all the paperwork done for ages and everything ready to go. Sometime in the week before we left we got an email saying our e-docs were ready. I laughed and said they had been for 2 months. I didn't even open the email. When we were checking in the agent asked our room number and I gave her the one I had. She looked at me funny and we continued on. I realize now that she was playing along with me. I guess she thought I was surprising my husband. We got on the ship and my husband said the numbers on the card didn't match. We thought they had changed some system. We're still just thinking room 1298. He went to check on something then came back and told me we were not in 1298 but 1300, and guess what, it's an Owner's Suite. So lesson learned, if they send you e-docs the week before a cruise, read the e-mail. Will it ever happen again? Probably not, but I'm good with that. She visited me once and I'll just say thank you.
