Aliciamay22 Posted January 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2014 My husband and I will be sailing this Friday on Explorer of the Seas (fingers crossed there is no delay at embarkation time). I will be doing a review for the first time. I know that when I was researching the ship and cabins I was disappointed in the lack of information out there on family ocean view state rooms on explorer. I have seen the website with the Voyager class pics and everything but was looking for more. My plan is to take lots of photos of our cabin which is a FOV. I also plan to take pics (or just scan upon my return) of the Compass for each day. I just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in this info? Hoping for a Noro-free cruise...but whatever happens, happens. All my hand washing and caution won't do me any good if others are careless so I'm trying not to get too worried about it. Are there any particular shows, lounges, activities, etc that anyone would like me to check out and report back on? 2 days left....guess I should start packing. :) Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

I agree there is a lack of current information, not just for the FOV but in general. I am very interested in the headliners/comedians and current compasses. What is your itinerary? (I know I could just look it up, but what fun would that be?!) Fingers crossed for a noro free cruise. I know people say anti-bac does not work since it is viral, but it is better than nothing!! I know many wash before walking into WJ or the dining rooms, but I plan on carry a small bath and body works pocket bac for just prior to eating, especially in WJ (touching serving utensils and all). But I doubt they will allow you to serve yourself up there, at least for the first few days. That would be something of interest to note. FYI as of this morning RCI.com states no delay for embarkation for your cruise! Happy seas!
fitzy123 Posted January 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Yes, I am very interested in any and all details! We are booked on the 4/10 sailing (1st time on Royal) so have been scouring the boards for information. Really hope you have a great cruise and no one gets sick on this one or any others! Aliciamay22 Posted January 29, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I am glad to hear there is some interest!! The itinerary I am on is San Juan, PR, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, Samana, Dominican Republic, and Labadee, Haiti. I will try and get plenty of pictures and I will make sure to make note of the headliners/comedians and their performances. Not sure exactly how people do this and remember all the details so I'm going to write down my findings in a small notebook throughout the day and then write up a formal daily review each evening. Well, thats my plan anyway. Let me know if anyone else would like me to check anything out specifically!:D A
DonnaK Posted January 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I love to read reviews! And, Explorer is one of my favorite ships (great crew! great activities team/CD) They have several days to deep clean the ship. I'd feel comfortable that the noro germs will be taken care of by the weekend.

Not sure if you have been there before or not. I had high expectations because of all the pretty, all inclusive resorts advertised. If you keep the Compasses, it should have all the headliner/comedians listed. When I mentioned that in my first post, I did not think about it until I saw you were going to right all the details down :o Thanks again!
davy jones Posted January 29, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 29, 2014 We are sailing the Explorer later this year, so I am very interested in Explorer reviews. We were in Samana a few months back on NCL. I understand what many say about Samana because of the poverty, but we had a great beach day at Cayo Levantado. kruzerci Posted January 29, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I'd be interested! We are on Explorer late this year. I've enjoyed seeing all the aerial and live views of the ship on the news, even though it is in a bad situation !
cruisin cubbie Posted January 29, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 29, 2014 We'll be on her on 2/16. Totally different itinerary, but since I haven't been on Royal Caribbean in years, I would love to hear about your voyage. Looking forward to reading it and wish you a safe and wonderful cruise! retiredgram Posted January 29, 2014 #15 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I am interested in a review. Will not be able to read it until we return from our cruise. Doing a B2B on the Grandeur leaving Friday also. I have to agree with Laney219 on Samana. We were not impressed either. Enjoy your cruise.
mark290 Posted January 29, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Not interested, thanks anyway. I think I speak for everyone when I say I hate reviews. Especially ones of ships that there are relatively few of. The only thing worse would be if you included lots of pictures.
cruze daddy Posted January 29, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 29, 2014 Yes Please, We are doing to same cruise, leaving on March 2. We have 2 over the water cabanas booked on Labadee, and have heard conflicting reports about if the over the water cabanas on Nellie's beach still include the upgraded lunch. I sent an email to RCI over 2 weeks ago but did not get a response. Thanks in advance!

Aliciamay22 Posted January 29, 2014 Author #20 Share Posted January 29, 2014 I'm actually really excited to sort of document this cruise. I always feel like I forget things if I don't have pictures to go along with it. So, by keeping track of my experience via a review, I am also hoping to have something to look back on to help me remember what I did and didn't like. I should mention that I have cruised Carnival and NCL both twice, and this is my first with Royal. Looking forward to just getting on that ship!!! I have two different cameras that i'm taking with me so there shouldn't be any shortage of pictures! ;)
