I believe the ship is chartered by the company/organization sponsoring the event. I also believe the only way to purchase a cruise for such charters is through that organization, not HAL

It means that you should contact HAL or yout travel agent ASAP to find out what your options are for alternatives...the 2nd Smooth Jazz Cruise was just added about a month ago,so if you booked your cruise thru a travel agent, they should have been notified by HAL

Booked with TA. Just checked HAL website and my reservation is still there.

 

Somethings are strange about the sponsors website. For example, it says certain cabin types are "sold out". For example, all SA/SB/SC are listed as sold out. Yet the HAL website shows SA/SB/SC are all available.

 

Also, the itinerary on the sponsors website says the first port of call is Nassau. HAL's website does not include a Eurodam stop at Nassau. HAL only lists three itineraries for Nassau for March 2015, all on Noordam.

 

Will certainly contact TA tomorrow.

Checked with TA who verified my reservation is still valid.

Checked the Entertainment Cruise Production website which is sponsoring the Smooth Jazz Cruise. Actually, this is the second SJC, the first scheduled for Jan 15 has sold out.

HAL is still taking reservations for the 1 March Eurodam cruise.

 

I'm concerned that the cruise sponsor is attempting to sell the second cruise and that, if successful, then convert that cruise to a full charter. Or, they might wind up with a very large group on board. They do have a large number of artists and musicians scheduled so one way or another, looks like they will be on the ship.

 

After discussing with TA, decided not to take a chance of a late cancellation and subsequent travel disruptions. Moved reservation to Nieuw Amsterdam leaving on 8 March and in the same cabin.

 

Entertainment Cruise Productions Website claims they are the biggest 'full charter' entertainment operation. They claim they 'establish the itinerary for the cruises, establish the program and schedule of events for each cruise, create its own special events for each cruise, and, most importantly, staff the cruises and directs the ships operations for the week of the cruise.' They go onto say: "We do not just lease a ship; we take it over, make the cruise ours and deliver a finished product to our guests that is second to none."

 

Consequently, we decided that even if it was a partial group charter, we would rather modify our plans now to avoid any possibility of having this group run our cruise.

Here's a little more information for the November 8, 2014 Westerdam MASTER CHEF Group Cruise. You may want to add the group should be between 800 and 900. Half the ship, it looks like.

 

I'm not a part of the group, but after talking with them, I think regular passengers will be fine. I hope. :)

The RSVP charter just ended on the MSC Divina this past weekend and according to the people on board, there was no announcement for the next Caribbean charter yet, and they normally have the sailing in the spring.

 

Just wondering if this may be another charter group?

.Hi CJ! I have a correction for you regarding the Michael W Smith & Friends cruise on the Amsterdam. The dates should be July 6-13, 2014. This is a sold out charter.

 

This was also listed as Michael J Smith & Friends, as a "group" on the Westerdam, June 7-14, 2014. You probably want to delete this as to not cause any confusion.
