Transfer Southhampton to London

Sailing on the Eclipse on April 21, ending up in Southhampton. Headed to London. What is the most economical way to get there? Does the ship offer a transfer?

We're sailing on the Eclipse 7/7 and are also looking at ways to getting to and from Southampton, usually Celebrity buses people up and down, need to check with them.

You can purchase a transfer from Celebrity, even if you did not use their air, you can take a private car, bus or train, all with different price tags...:o:o

last time we did a TA with X, we did one of their end of cruise tours that took us through Stonehenge and then on to Heathrow, where we had arranged transport to our hotel in central London on our own (you could take the Heathros Express train from their to CL now), not super economical, but a great way to spend the morning and see some more sights.

The time after that, on an Equinox sailing out of Southampton, we took the train from Central London (Waterloo Station) both ways. Very easy and very economical - several runs a day - some express with maybe 1 stop, some with more stops, but still a very easy and relaxing way to get to and from the port area. The train station was only about a $15 or so cab ride to the port. Definitely how we will do it in the future. We did not need to book in advance on either end - we walked off the boat, caught a cab over to the station, got some train tickets, had some juice and away we went.

We had a flight that left heathrow after 3pm. We took the ships tour that took us to Windsor and then on to the Airport. Worked very well. Don't know if this was the cheapest way but it was easy

For the most economical way, it says "The cheapest but slowest option between Southampton and Central London is the bus"

I would read through the Ports of Call - Europe - boards. We did a Europe Cruise out of South Hampton a number of years ago and got a ton of great tips for tours and transportation. I would post this question over there for better responses.

After a transatlantic 2 years ago we used Smiths for Airports to get from Southampton to Portsmouth. Worked out very well. Even stopped at a bank so we could get some Pounds Sterling from an ATM.

Hi Crol, I am on this crossing as well. We have a very active Roll Call going on at the link below. A number of folks are putting together groups to share private transportation to London from Southampton, so you might consider that option.

We are the Eclipes Sept 29. I did some checking. 1)There is a bus service that will leave the ship at 7:30am, it takes you to the airport. 2)Take a taxi to the central train station in Southamption and take the train to Victoria Station. Or what we are going with. 3)Celebrity has a excurision that take you to Windsor Castle and then to LHR. We are then going to take the Heathrow Express into London. Most hotels in London have a 3pm check in time. Richard

There's very frequent (3-4x/hour) train service from southamtpon central train station (close to the common cruise docks -- ie GBP 5 taxi). Most trains take around 1h30, and head to WATERLOO station in London, there's one train/hour that heads to Victoria station (but takes 2h20).

 

Also, if you're heading to the windsor area, there's one train an hour to Reading (and points north) as well, and it's easy to catch a bus to Windsor from there.

 

For Southampton - Waterloo; check megabus.com (yes bus) for cheap train tickets, sometimes at little as 2-3GBP on some rail journeys. You're tied to a specific train time, but it's a great deal.

National Express coaches go every 1 1/2 hours or so for around $10

downtown to downtown. Haven't used from Southampton, but worked
