CroozDoggie Posted March 14, 2014 #26 Share Posted March 14, 2014 First cruise for my DW and I was a seven night Eastern Caribbean on the Sovereign of the Seas in May of 1992. Many fond memories. She was a grand ship for her time. :)

lovesthebeach2 Posted March 14, 2014 #28 Share Posted March 14, 2014 Actually... there were two Crown and Anchors on the Sovereign. One Port, One Starboard. One is on the Oasis and one is on the Allure. And I actually found out about it when they were added to the ships -- I know someone on the construction team. There are two more in storage. But, yes, Captain Johnny does tell the story!!! Wow! I'll be sure to take a picture when I am on the Allure in May :-)
Rare MandyMooToo Posted March 14, 2014 #29 Share Posted March 14, 2014 What a cool bit of Trivia! Sovereign of the Seas was also my first cruise on RCCL...also our Honeymoon cruise. Our honeymoon was on Sovereign also! My sister and her husband honeymooned on her a week after we did :)

donnad08 Posted March 14, 2014 Author #31 Share Posted March 14, 2014 The old girl seems to be a lot of our "firsts". She definitely got me hooked on cruising and RCCL. She looks beautiful now. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

seacruise9 Posted March 15, 2014 #38 Share Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) Hi, I cruised aboard the Sovereign of the Seas in the summer of 1988 (when the ship was only six months old). Back then, the Sovereign was doing seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises. The ship was a true trendsetter and the first ship with a large atrium, glass elevators, etc. In the late 1980's the Sovereign was in a class by herself (similar to the Oasis / Allure today). In 1995, I did another seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Sovereign. This was an interesting itinerary because it included both CocoCay and Labadee. I have many wonderful memories of this ship. Chuck Edited March 15, 2014 by seacruise9

smalltimecruiser100 Posted March 15, 2014 #40 Share Posted March 15, 2014 We were on the 10th voyage back in 1988 when she was brand new and return some 20 years later in 2008. Loved that ship and miss her
dazza74 Posted March 16, 2014 #41 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Was also my first cruise but not as a passenger. I got a job as a bus boy and lasted two days before deciding the working conditions were not for me. Never got to see her public areas other than the restaurant. I need the model ship from her to complete my collection :)

michael821 Posted March 23, 2014 #45 Share Posted March 23, 2014 This is Sovereign in December 2013 as we pulled in to Salvador De Bahia, Brazil on Splendour of the Seas:) Unfortunately we never got to sail on Sovereign in Royal colours. I was fortunate to sail on the Sovereign twice in the late 80's. I am pretty sure I saw it October 2012 when we boarded a transatlantic on the Liberty out of Barcelona. What a nice memory I had of that ship and happy the Majesty is still cruising. I'm on that one tomorrow, Monday.
