cruisingsaw Posted July 29, 2005 #26 Share Posted July 29, 2005 I am platinum and the rest of my family is gold. I was wondering if it works like RCCL where everyone in the house is at the level with the highest person. Thanks for the info
carnivaljunkie Posted July 29, 2005 #27 Share Posted July 29, 2005 • Past Guest Recognition Program - features special Gold and Platinum Sail & Sign cards for returning guests. Cards will give entrée into the exclusive cocktail reception held for returning guests (5 day or longer cruises) and help alert ship's staff to your exceptional status. The above quote is from the past guest section of the Carnival.com web site. No "perks" are listed and no numbers of cruises are given. I would like to know if only Carnival cruises or Carnival Corp. brands cruises are included. Carnival #9 is coming up, but we also have some Holland America and Cunard that would put us over 10. LHP Posted July 29, 2005 #28 Share Posted July 29, 2005 my understanding is that it is only Carnival cruises. Each cruise line (although all owned by Carnival Corporation) operates indepedently of each other since each offers a different kind of cruise. I do know that Platinum is more than 10 cruises. I am hoping that Carnival follows Princess' offering with 16+ being Elite. As for perks, I listed our experience on the Spirit a couple of weeks ago in detail. It was really nice and greatly appreciated by this family of four platinums. Cruisingsaw: As far as I have seen to date, each cruiser will receive a card based on their individual cruise count. crusingisthewaytogo Posted July 29, 2005 #29 Share Posted July 29, 2005 I sailed the Legend on 4/27/05 (my 9th Carnival cruise). I received the "Platinum card". At the time of embarkation I said to myself "oh, the cards have changed and it is now silver". I never thought about it again. One day I went to the coffee bar to purchase a specialty item and was asked "how many Carnival ships have I sailed and which ones." I asked "how do you know" and the answer was because I had a special card and it meant I was a repeat guest. So then I noticed guests with the old cards and the new cards. I did not receive any special perks with the platinum card at that time.
qualtek Posted July 29, 2005 #30 Share Posted July 29, 2005 If Platinum is 10 cruises (and the elusive Black is 15). Then how many is Gold?
1particularharbor Posted July 29, 2005 #31 Share Posted July 29, 2005 We did get a gold card on our Miracle cruise in April...we have cruised Carnival 23 times since 1997 ...so I suppose we will get the platinum card when we cruise the Liberty in 2007 ...look forward to seeing just what Carnival will do for its loyal customers ...there are options that would not be that costly I think ..some have been mentioned in this thread... Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted July 29, 2005 #32 Share Posted July 29, 2005 If Platinum is 10 cruises (and the elusive Black is 15). Then how many is Gold? Gold = 2 or more crusies, up to 9 or 10 then you receive a Platinum (and there is currently NOT a BLACK) Tom
Rare eroller Posted July 29, 2005 #33 Share Posted July 29, 2005 My question is, how do you go about getting full credit for all the Carnival Cruises you have taken? I started sailing with Carnival back in 1978 on the FESTIVALE. Since then I have sailed on a total of nine Carnival Cruises. My profile only lists the four most recent. Believe it or not, I still have my documents from all those Carnival cruises. I kept them as a souvenir so I certainly could prove that I sailed if it came down to it. Ernie A couple weeks ago, I contacted Carnival about updating my cruise history online. They only had 6 out of 9 previous sailings listed. So, I sent them the ships, sailing dates, and cabin numbers. They were able to update 2 of them (12/90 on the Jubilee and 3/91 on the Mardi Gras), but not the 3rd, which was in 8/87 on the Festivale. I received the following response: "In regards to your query, unable to add the Festivale because our records do not go back that far." I think their records may go back to around 1988 or so. I am booked on my 10th in September, but probably won't get the Platinum card, as they don't have any record of my 1st cruise with them. LHP Posted July 29, 2005 #35 Share Posted July 29, 2005 there is a place to on the Carnival website to update your "history" list. Hubby had 9 cruises before we met and we had to have those added. He had saved all his booking numbers etc as well. As Tom has said...there currently isn't any Black and there may never be. We are just hoping that Carnival follows the Princess format. As for the Platinum....I also think someone at Carnival did not think it through because it does look like just a "silver". In fact one teen that was talking with my son was making fun of my son's "silver" when the other teen had a gold. (The other teen had been on 3 cruises) My son corrected him and said read the card....it says Platinum.
SuiteCruiser Posted July 29, 2005 #36 Share Posted July 29, 2005 Eroller, I contacted Carnival about adding my Mardi Gras cruise and received the following: "For the MARDI GRAS, in order for that cruise to entered on your profile, we will need proof that shows you've sailed. I will need either a copy of a boarding pass or a sign & sail card. the information can be faxed directly to me at 305-406-6611. Zeta3 Posted July 29, 2005 #38 Share Posted July 29, 2005 The only thing I got with my Platinum S&S Card on the Triumph in july was a headache from the darn card setting off the alarms EVERY time I got on or off the ship followed by the "helpful" new cruisers explaing to me that I needed to use my S&S card not a credit card...

SuiteCruiser Posted July 30, 2005 #40 Share Posted July 30, 2005 LHP, Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately it was a spring break cruise through my high school (with chaperones who we saw once or twice:) ) but I don't even know who the TA was. I could probably dig out a photo of me standing in front of the Mardi Gras life ring, but that would be about it!
LHP Posted July 30, 2005 #41 Share Posted July 30, 2005 that ring photo would give Carnival a date and that should be enough!!
SuiteCruiser Posted July 30, 2005 #42 Share Posted July 30, 2005 You never know! Maybe I should go digging...I remembered my cabin number and the sailing date. They'd be hard pressed to say I wasn't there if I have the photo to prove it.
cliffy97 Posted August 11, 2005 #43 Share Posted August 11, 2005 So if this is my second cruise i should get a gold card? Also, how does one become member of the skippers club? Thanks!
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted August 11, 2005 #44 Share Posted August 11, 2005 So if this is my second cruise i should get a gold card? Also, how does one become member of the skippers club? Thanks! Yes, 2nd cruise = gold card (seems like a "low" # to qualify for GOLD...lol) People that book suites (Category 11 and 12) are in the Skipper's Club - automatically. It is basically a check-in/boarding perk that CCL throws out there for people who spend a few hundred more for their cabin... Tom
bbiggar Posted August 11, 2005 #45 Share Posted August 11, 2005 My next cruise we should be Elite status (16 cruises), but after emailing Carnival several times about our history being wrong (wrong ships and missing cruises on the page) they never have responded. Hmmm, after 15 cruises you think they would respond sometime.
serene56 Posted August 11, 2005 #46 Share Posted August 11, 2005 What do you get for Elite Status? I have only read about gold or Platinum.. nothing but a gold or paltiunum card and a welcome back.
