p_mori7 Posted April 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Yes. $3.00 if I am not mistaken. Older ships takes quarters. Newer ships take your S/S card. :)
momof1son Posted April 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2014 The Magic had detergent. $1.50 for one thing, which was enough for one load. It took quarters.
Seago2 Posted April 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I'm sure it's crossed your mind but I find it really handy to bring those pods of detergent. They take up zero space and don't make a mess.
Midwestgal Posted April 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I've never seen the soap in the laundry room, I thought you had to purchase it somewhere else on the ship. That or I just never noticed it.
afreetdragon Posted April 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I concur, Take tide pods in a sandwich bag in your luggage. Less expensive & takes up little to no space. Throw some Downey dryer sheets in the bag and Poof! Laundry all done.
tandemcruzr Posted April 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Our experience was it was in a wall mounted vending machine -- sometimes quarters you can get from Guest Services, other times you use your S&S card.
christyran1228 Posted April 4, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We just threw a few Tide pods in a ziploc bag, and another one with a few sheets of Bounce for just a few cents each ... super-convenient. Don't waste $$ on the vending machines! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
SadieN Posted April 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We use the Purex sheets when not sailing on Carnival. (When sailing Carnival we use the Platinum laundry perk.)
Boof80 Posted April 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 4, 2014 When is the best time to do washing? Day and time would be good to know. Our cruise will be the start of week 3 away for us and we will be running out of clothes by then. Would the first day be the best? or the first sea day (day 2)? We are on a 7 day cruise on the Glory. We also have FTTF so I am not adverse to popping a load on as soon as we board. Thanks in advance.

If the doors are open you can use the laundryroom. The first few days the machines won't be as busy as later on in the cruise. The irons will be in the afternoons of the Cruise Elegant nights. mosiegirl Posted April 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 4, 2014 We use the Purex sheets when not sailing on Carnival. (When sailing Carnival we use the Platinum laundry perk.) We bring one purex sheet with us.. works great.. Also, with the laundry rooms keep in mind there are no chairs.. we didn't want to leave our laundry unattended.. so hubby brought that small bench thingy from our cabin. Also, with the laundry rooms keep in mind there are no chairs.. we didn't want to leave our laundry unattended.. so hubby brought that small bench thingy from our cabin. We put the sheet into a small sweater bag. They have a tendency to clog up the drain pipes. Since they are extremely hard to find I only use these on vacation. Sometimes I'll cut them in half lengthwise for two uses in small machines.
MNelson486 Posted April 4, 2014 #15 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I have not been able to find the Purex sheets. They are great. We have moved to the Tide pod -- but they can leak in the luggage so make sure your ziploc is tight, Or i have used one of those disposable glad containers that I just leave on the ship so there is more room in my suitcase on the way home! I'm sure your right, I just never noticed it that's all. I may also be thinking of how to get quarters . I too bring my own little packets of tide ....but it from target for a buck per pack. I never tried the pods .
PortSideCruzan Posted April 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) If so whats the cost? Hi mnsweeps :) I see you will be traveling on the Conquest. Yes there are vending machines that dispense small boxes of detergent. As other members stated, the cost is $1.50 to $3.00. If you need quarters, simply obtain them at guest services or in the casino. The self service laundry facilities aboard the Conquest are located on the following decks: Riviera Deck 1............across from cabin 1357 and 1359 Main Deck 2................across from cabin 2365 and 2367 Upper Deck 6...............across from cabin 6385 and 6387 Empress Deck 7...........across from cabin 7337 and 7339 Verandah Deck 8........across from cabin 8349 and 8351 Lido Deck 9.................across from cabin 9268 and 9270 :) Edited April 4, 2014 by PortSideCruzan
josiemartinez Posted April 4, 2014 #18 Share Posted April 4, 2014 I go to the local laundromat and pick up a small box of detergent for about 50 cents. It may be a little higher now but cheaper than on the ship. Even thought the soap is in the box, I put it in a plastic bag along with a dryer sheet. Enough for one load. maldenmusic Posted April 4, 2014 #19 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Take your own little boxes of detergent if you plan on doing laundry. My hubby just thought he had to do laundry on one of our cruises and it was always full when he tried to do it.

pammycakes Posted April 4, 2014 #21 Share Posted April 4, 2014 Never try to laundry on a sea day as everyone is thinking the same way. I do mine on a port day one that I have already been on. They have the strangest set up on the Breeze 3 washers and 6 dryers, go figure.

mnsweeps Posted April 4, 2014 Author #23 Share Posted April 4, 2014 we ended up buying small cheap (50 cent) travel bottles from Walmart and filled 2 with liquid detergent.

I'm very upset to hear that the Purex sheets might not be available :( in the future. We've used them for years and would like to keep using them! They're so easy to pack and easy to use. I think we need to go out to Wal-Mart and K-mart and "whatever Mart" to find them before they "disappear"!
AnnaBeth Posted April 5, 2014 #25 Share Posted April 5, 2014 I was at target tonight and couldn't find purex sheets but they did have individual pouches of up and up detergent for 44 cents a pouch. I grabbed two and will bring a couple of dryer sheets and should be good to go! Not sure if I'll need to do laundry at all but figured I'd bring it along just in case!
