Carnival ruined...

Recommended Posts

I second the chilled cream and fruit soups. Love them. Creme Brulee just because I don't have anywhere else to get it.

My wife started to tear up when we saw the new menus, no creme brulee! But from what I hear those and the chilled soups (another wife favorite) are being added back!

Caesar salads for me. I used to love a good Caesar, but now only Carnival's will do!

What's something you love better on a cruise than anywhere else?

Carnival's cream of mushroom soup. I've never had any that's any better than theirs. I look forward to it every time I cruise Carnival.

On my first Carnival cruise on the Fascination I absolutely loved the Ceasars salads. Lately on other Carnival ships they are waaaaayyyy to fishy for me. A little anchovy is fine but lately they taste like nasty old fish. Blech !!!

I like the chilled soups too. And I nearly forgot the huge chocolate layer cake from the coffee shop. Any other Choc cake w/choc frosting just reminds me of a cruise. Its so dark and rich and decadent. One slice lasts 2 days.

Nothing to do with Caesar Salad... the answer for me is freedom!

Got off my first Carnival cruise (Imagination - 4 day) last Thursday. Since I was solo, I buffet ate almost exclusively.

Food misses for me -

- The soups. Didn't like the mushroom that much, and the chicken tortilla was horrible (just runny broth with a few chicken pieces).

- Same potato salad and coleslaw at every lunch/dinner. Can't they change things up a bit?

- Most pasta dishes were very bland, although I liked their ratatoulle lasagna.

- Food court pizza was terrible (box pizza would be better).

Food pluses-

- Loved the jerk pork on the last night dinner

- caesar salad at the salad bar (had it a few times)

- the amaretto cake (and one of the other chocolate cakes)

Carnival's is very good. MSC's Mushroom soup is the best that I have ever had. Has that decent "earthy" mushroomy taste that seems to be missing everywhere else.
