Australian Eucalyptus Drops

Recommended Posts

Hi --

When I was in Australia last October, I bought the most delicious eucalyptus drops. I will be back in October for another cruise.

I think the name was "Powells," but the problem is I don't remember for sure. I bought them at a local convenience store near the Sofitel Wentworth Hotel, in Sydney.

Can anyone of our Australian members clue me in as to the proper name of the product? They are not sold in the United States. But they should be!

Google is your friend.

I have found Aussie Eucalyptus drops (available from Woolworths and other places), Bosisto's medicated Eucalyptus drops and Johnsons sugar free Eucalyptus drops, no Powells ones though. They should be freely available in any convenience store, Woolies, Coles and pharmacies.

IMHO emuridge dot com dot au is the BEST for eucalyptus oil and you can order online as I do every year and a bit for the oil and the soap :) It is a Kangaroo Island distillery that has been going for a long time.

I like Double "D" Eucalyptus Drops, as well as Eucalyptus & Honey.

These are made by an old Australian company. You need to check labels, as not all Eucalyptus Drops are Australian made.

You can get them from supermarkets.

These are good and they are what they sell around here.:D

A sad sign of the times I am afraid. Its the same in NZ...with Globalization its hard to know what comes from where .Not much is owned locally when you start delving into who owns what.

Its the same with cruising. A big song and dance is made about how much the cruise industry pumps into the local economy.

But does it?

Even P&O Australia has all its profits siphoned off overseas.

While both true and sad, it will not stop me from cruising.:D

No need to say who makes most of the song and dance... the cruise business.

Their actual contribution is actually quite small. Better than nothing of course, but often those statements are made when they're trying to get something to their benefit...

For those not familiar with "Australiana" by Austin Tayshus, this classic standup comedy routine can be viewed here:

WARNING: It is a bit offensive in places and our overseas friends probably won't get half the puns as they are based on Australian animals, place names and other icons.

I am glad you put the Caveat up, I was going to post the link as well but decided not to as some may be offended and I didn't want to be slapped by an administrator.:D
