jackie101 Posted May 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2014 We are doing the Liberty Thanksgiving cruise and it looks like our flight will not leave FLL until 8:30pm so we are thinking of doing an excursion. Do they hold your luggage? Anyone do one? There will be 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 children. thanks

However, I think the latest the arrive at the airport is mid-afternoon, so you would still have a good amount of time to kill. Merion_Mom Posted May 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2014 I agree with everything that Bob wrote. I have done the Everglades excursion twice, to eat up time after debarkation. I really enjoyed it. It was different the two times. Recently, we met the Gator Boys. :)
jackie101 Posted May 23, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 23, 2014 we are still so undecided. We could also take a flight out of orlando, but it leaves at 12:45 and I think it would be cutting it way too close:confused:

Miami airport (MIA) is another option. Edited May 23, 2014 by clarea

Do they hold your luggage? Anyone do one? There will be 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 children. thanks We recently took the FLL city tour excursion offered by RC after our Allure cruise. It was a nice way to wind down our cruise before our late afternoon flight. You can either walk off the ship with your luggage or put it out in the hall the night before (you'll have to pick it up in the terminal prior to the FLL tour). All the luggage goes on the bus with you for this tour. You'll also be in the first group of passengers to disembark the ship (approx. 7:30 AM). We thought the best part of the tour was the paddle wheel boat that took us on a nice trip through the inter-coastal waterways of FLL. Some of the homes were amazing! Our tour guide was also amazing. She was very knowledgeable, had a great sense of humor, & provided us with info overload!LOL The tour ended at the FLL airport at 1:30PM. We had plenty of time to go through airport check-in & have lunch before our flight departed. RCCL also has a separate bus tour for those that are flying out of the Miami airport. Ashland Posted May 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 23, 2014 With a 8:30pm flight departure that's still a lot of time to spend at FLL (least favorite) with most excursions ending in the early afternoon...figure up the total cost..it might be worth renting a minivan for the day..and using Luggage valet..just an option you might consider. jakenashleysmom Posted May 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 23, 2014 If you are staying in Ft Lauderdale pre-cruise, doesn't hurt to ask if you could store your luggage for a few hours upon your return and spend the day in Ft Lauderdale. We stayed at the Hampton Inn, and did just that. The girl at the desk directed us to a great little breakfast place and from there we walked to the water taxi and took a round trip tour of Ft Lauderdale. Then to Las Olas for lunch and back to the hotel for our luggage. It was a really nice day! Sent from my KFTHWI using Forums mobile app
cb at sea Posted May 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 23, 2014 Check the cost of: the excursion, a day room, or paying the fee for an earlier flight. Pick the cheapest! An 8:30 pm flight will give you 13 hours to "kill"...that's a killer!
CruisinCadie Posted May 23, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 23, 2014 We've done the paddle wheel boat/Las Olas tour and found it very enjoyable. We used luggage valet so all we had to keep track of were our carry-ons. BUT they do drop you off at FLL around 1:30, so that's a heck of a long time to wait for an evening flight. I'd certainly check into the cost of using luggage valet and rent a van for the day. Kathy

After our January 2015 Oasis cruise we have a 6:30pm flight back to Seattle so we were hoping to do the tour you mention. But this is the only tour they are offering after our cruise. :( Enjoy the Miami most emblematic zones and discover all its beauty, from a different point of view: On board a Double Decker Bus!. Discover from above South Beach and it´s famous Art-Deco District, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Little Havana, Downtown and more! This tour ends ends at Miami International Airport from that point the operator offers the guests a complimentary shuttle to Airport/Fort Lauderdale International Airport or back to the port. Domestic flights departing after 2:50pm or international flights departing after 3:50pm from MIA International Airport. Domestic flights departing after 3:50pm or international flights departing after 4:50pm from FLL International Airport. Seems a bit ridiculous to take a tour to Miami Airport then shuttle back to Ft Lauderdale.
