Drink Prices/Package - FACTS

Recommended Posts

Guess we were shorted!

Sorry for the wrong info, guess we just had some confused people

It seems the ship's personnel still need some training on how the packages are supposed to work.

The bottled Evian isn't included, and that's what they sell as you leave the ship. We would get regular bottled water from the bar instead.

What is the "regular" bottled water? I thought the Evian still was "regular".

Also, can anyone confirm if the Frozen NON-alcoholic drinks are included in the royal replenish package?

Yes, frozen non-alcoholic drinks are included in the replenish package.

Does anyone have experience of only one person in the cabin who drinks buying the select package?

My husband drinks alcohol but I do not, I would really like to buy the replenish package as I love the non alcoholic cocktails and the select package would suit my husband, but the terms say we would both have to have the select package, which makes it cost prohibitive for us.

Do you know if there is any wiggle room on this rule, as I don't drink for religious reasons and am not planning to start any time soon :D - I realise that the rules are there for a reason, and I can't just change them to suit me, but if any of you have had experience of this I would really appreciate your insights?

Thanks

Emma

Well with the premium package only my husband had it, and I didn't have one. They even let us switch the package from my husbands account to my account midweek when he got sick.

Just a note:

I believe that all of those Pound signs should be read as Dollar signs.

:)

Last time I looked at my post (I'm the OP) the prices WERE quoted in U dollars by use of the $ sign.

Here in the uk we quote GBP by use of the £ sign.

However I may be wrong as I have posted less than 130 posts compared to your 30,000+ posts!

BTW were you onboard Adventure departure (8/5/14)? {that's 8th May in case you're confused} perhaps you were the American that we were unfortunate enough to be sat with for lunch one day. (No offence to 99.9% of our US cousins)

All pax in a cabin DO NOT have to have the package. You can have 1 pax buy & 1 buy per drink. Or be on two different packages.

We had no problems with drinks being included. But then we didnt try to buy the Lois XIII cognac @ $135/glass!

On the premium package when you bought the drink/cocktail of the day you got a plain glass. I assume if you asked for the "special" glass you'd get one but you'd pay for the glass.

From the info I found on the RCI website the top package (ultimate) have you premium coffees (don't know what that was) on the premium we had to pay for a Starbucks.

Bottled water from bars is on the premium package. Can't remember the brand but to us water is water. It is good to get a bottle or two to take off ship as they sell water as you leave the ship. Is it included in a package? I don't know.

Don't worry too much about what is or isn't included. How much it will cost. Just go for it. Then it's one less cost to worry about.

What is the "regular" bottled water? I thought the Evian still was "regular".

In Feb our Replenish-included bottled still water was Crystal Geyser. It is perfectly decent spring water, just like Evian. Just without the name recognition.

Premium coffees are lattes, mochas, etc, made at the non-Starbucks-branded espresso locations. So on Oasis and Allure you cannot get your lattes from the branded Starbucks location, but you can go find the one without the big green sign and get your latte included with Replenish or Ultimate.

It's money, so I personally am going to worry, or just figure out, what is and isn't included. And if I'm going to drink enough fluids to make whatever plan work out well for me financially.

Hi,

We are sailing on the Allure spring 2015. Thank you in advance for all the fabulous reviews and wonderful pictures. I have learned so much and can"t wait for our cruise. Now for my question.

I only drink bottled water--sparkling, not flat. I never drink any other soda. I do not like drinking from the tap, not even at home. Can anyone tell me the price of the sparkling bottled water package? How much is it if I purchase by the bottle? Do we have to purchase the bottle package for both my husband and myself or is one package OK? Is it cheaper to buy before we sail? If I buy a package two days into the cruise, do they pro-rate it so I don't pay for days lost?

I hope this makes sense and thanks again.

Robin

Question regarding the wine package - can you have the bottles in the Windjammer or just in the MDR? I believe you can only have these bottles in dining rooms??

Also, with pay as you go drinks (thanks for posting - very interesting) did you actually pay the prices quoted or was 15% added to your bill? We've pre-paid gratuities don't know if that makes a difference?

Last year we had the premium package but this year we have free wine package thrown in so probably won't bother - hence these questions!

Thanks

We just got off Adventure of the Seas and had the Premium ($55/day)

Package included wine by glass to $14 and $12 for cocktails. All beers included (except Fosters Oil Can)

Here are prices from the price list (Departure 8th May 2014)

(* This is the heading on each page)

*Royal 'ritas from $9.45 to $10.50

*Tropical Treasures from £7.25 to $10.00

*Frozen Fun (frozen cocktails) $8.00 to $9.75

*Martini Madness $9.50 to $12.00

*Teas & Lemonade (Alcoholic) $7.25 to $10.75

*Bubbles & Bloodys $6.75 to £8.90 (Alcohol free Bloody Mary (Bloody Shame)

$2.60)

House bubbles from Champagne bar $8.00

*After Dinner $7.00 to £9.50

*American Premium Beers $5.50 to £6.00 (not fosters oil ($8))

*Beers of the world $5.50

Wine:

*Chardonnay $9 to $18/glass

*Pinot Grigio £10/glass

*Sauvignon Blanc $11/glas

*Adventurous Whites $9 to $14/glass

*Blush $8/glass

*Pinot Nior $10 to $11/glass

*Merlot $11/glass

*Shiraz $8/glass

*Cabernet Sauvignon $10 to $12/glass

*Malbec £10/glass

Non Alcoholic Cocktails $4.50

Diet coke (can, or I think glass too) $2.50

Most of what we drank during our cruise was around $8 a drink.

On a port day we would consume perhaps:

2x diet coke; 2x blush wine (at dinner); 4 assorted drinks during the evening

On a sea day it would be more:

2x diet coke; 2x alcohol free cocktails; 2x blush wine at dinner; 4 assorted drinks

in evening.

Port day = $53 + 15% tip

Sea day = $62 + 15% tip

So on average, IMO, if you have around 6 alcoholic drinks and some soft drinks per day you will get your moneys worth.

If you are on a package and you order the cocktail of the day ($7.50) you don't

get the glass and are therefore not charged for the glass. I'm sure if you want one they will give you it and charge accordingly.

As a side note. In the MDR they come round and offer you an after dinner drink in a special glass. If you are on a package the glass will cost you $4.50 for the shot glass.

We only saw them twice on our 15 nighter!

When did they change the Premium Package ($55 per day) to wine up to $14 and cocktails up to $12? We had the package in March and the wine was up to $12 per glass and the cocktails were up to $10 per drink.

If you order a drink above the package price you only pay the difference.

We have had the package 3 times and it is definitely worth it for us.

Also you can order the special after dinner drinks without the special shot glass and it is covered under the package.

I'm not sure about getting one in the windjammer but my husband was able to order and carry around a bottle of wine in the casino. So it is possible to get one at the bar in the windjammer I would think.

So DH will probably get the Select package because he's a beer and wine kind of guy. Can he get a glass of wine for himself (Merlot) and a (discounted) bottle of Chardonnay for me and my travel buddies?

Yes.

The limits have not changed. The $14/$12 limit is for cruises out of Europe where the menu prices are higher because they include gratuity. The limit is still $12/$10 for US based cruises.
