Drink Prices/Package - FACTS

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure about getting one in the windjammer but my husband was able to order and carry around a bottle of wine in the casino. So it is possible to get one at the bar in the windjammer I would think.

That's useful to know - many thanks.

The limits have not changed. The $14/$12 limit is for cruises out of Europe where the menu prices are higher because they include gratuity. The limit is still $12/$10 for US based cruises.

So can I just confirm - when sailing out of Southampton next month, the price advertised for drinks per the menu will be the price we actually pay?

That's what I've been told.

The fresh squeezed OJ and specialty coffee and teas are included in the Replenish (non-alcoholic) and Ultimate packages.

This is from the US site:

More from the UK site:

In Fine print on the US doc says it excludes Evian water for those wondering

Did this recently change in price per drink allowable in the premium package? I was on the Oasis in March and the mixed drinks included were up to $10 and wine by the glass was up to $12, but your post is $2 higher per item?

I just got off the Oasis last week and had the $65/day package. Limit was $12 on wine and $10 on cocktails. I could purchase higher but would be charged the difference. Used the extra $10 a day on lattes, fresh squeezed OJ and Pellegrino. Worth it for me.

Had the premium pkg on Explorer a month ago and bottled water was included, but not Evian.

I had the premium package on the Grandeur and sometimes they gave me Evian small bottles, a few times they gave me Evian in the LARGE bottles (because that's all they had) and sometimes it was Crystal Geyser (which I greatly prefer anyway!) So in my experience it depended on what they had behind the bar, or wherever I was getting it from.

I just got off of NOS and we got many of the souvenir glasses from the DoD and were not charged. When the bar I went to ran out of Crystal Geyser, we got Dasani.

As for those who don't know if they want a package for alcohol, order a drink before getting the package and find out if half a glass of liquor for one drink will keep you going for a while. Their pours are very long. A two finger pour is really more of a spreaded three finger pour, at least in my situations!!!

Why is the all-inclusive beverage package on Costa ($26) so much cheaper than Royal Caribbean's ($55)?

What's the catch?

Probably a good question for the Costa forum.

Does anyone know if the specialty coffee's in the MDR are covered under the Ultimate package?

Yes, the Replenish and Ultimate packages would cover specialty coffee in the MDR and restaurants.

We just got off Adventure of the Seas and had the Premium ($55/day)

Package included wine by glass to $14 and $12 for cocktails. All beers included (except Fosters Oil Can)

Here are prices from the price list (Departure 8th May 2014)

(* This is the heading on each page)

*Royal 'ritas from $9.45 to $10.50

*Tropical Treasures from £7.25 to $10.00

*Frozen Fun (frozen cocktails) $8.00 to $9.75

*Martini Madness $9.50 to $12.00

*Teas & Lemonade (Alcoholic) $7.25 to $10.75

*Bubbles & Bloodys $6.75 to £8.90 (Alcohol free Bloody Mary (Bloody Shame) $2.60)

House bubbles from Champagne bar $8.00

*After Dinner $7.00 to £9.50

*American Premium Beers $5.50 to £6.00 (not fosters oil ($8))

*Beers of the world $5.50

Wine:

*Chardonnay $9 to $18/glass

*Pinot Grigio £10/glass

*Sauvignon Blanc $11/glas

*Adventurous Whites $9 to $14/glass

*Blush $8/glass

*Pinot Nior $10 to $11/glass

*Merlot $11/glass

*Shiraz $8/glass

*Cabernet Sauvignon $10 to $12/glass

*Malbec £10/glass

Non Alcoholic Cocktails $4.50

Diet coke (can, or I think glass too) $2.50

Most of what we drank during our cruise was around $8 a drink.

On a port day we would consume perhaps:

2x diet coke; 2x blush wine (at dinner); 4 assorted drinks during the evening

On a sea day it would be more:

2x diet coke; 2x alcohol free cocktails; 2x blush wine at dinner; 4 assorted drinks in evening.

Port day = $53 + 15% tip

Sea day = $62 + 15% tip

So on average, IMO, if you have around 6 alcoholic drinks and some soft drinks per day you will get your moneys worth.

If you are on a package and you order the cocktail of the day ($7.50) you don't get the glass and are therefore not charged for the glass. I'm sure if you want one they will give you it and charge accordingly.

As a side note. In the MDR they come round and offer you an after dinner drink in a special glass. If you are on a package the glass will cost you $4.50 for the shot glass.

We only saw them twice on our 15 nighter!

Thank you for the great information, that's very helpful. I was just thinking of booking a drink package for our September cruise. All things considered I think we will manage (somehow !!) to get our money's worth. We are not heavy drinkers but going by your calculations that is about the same as us. Even if I would probably drink a few more non alcohol cocktails around the pool than my husband . We are on splendour of seas in September with a group of friends , so will be spending a lot more time in the bars than we normally do .

What does the all-inclusive beverage package on Costa include? That information might give us Royal Caribbean cruisers who have done the $55 Premium Beverage Package enough information to make a comparison.

Hi, off on our first RCL cruise on 1 July. My parents are regular cruise goers and have suggested that we pay as we go for drinks (mainly because we aren't big drinkers and have wine included). However I'm seriously considering the royal replenish package because I love chai lattes and wanna try the non alcoholic cocktails!

Can anyone let me know it latte-tudes is included and can you get anything from the menu on this package?

Thanks in advance :)

I know you can get cappucino, latte, and expresso at Cafe Latte-tudes using the Replenish package. I'm guessing that the chai latte is also included since it's the same price as the other items, but I'm not sure of that.

One thing you can do is wait to purchase until you are onboard. That way you can ask specifically what is included in the package.

We are 6 days off of the Oasis and I had the Ultimate package. I purchased it over the premium for two reasons. I love Sparkling water and fresh squeezed OJ. It took a couple of days to find all of the OJ machines but I had like a million bottles of Pelligrino in the fridge (not all at one time, haha).

Two problems that my cruise obsessed self encountered, and they were both my fault. That damn Evian is so convenient sitting right by the teapot to make tea in the morning. Five days into the cruise I remembered it wasn't included. Nice bill there. When we went to get off of the ship at the ports I thought we would pass right by the water station, never did see it, but we're told it was the Evian not included in the package anyway. Save yourself and just grab some waters from the bar or cafe promenade for your room. For those wanting beer in your room on ice, my friends, the beer drinkers extraordinaire, had quite the little system. A few well placed tips go a long way to the bartender when asking them not to open the the can or bottle. They would make "beer runs" with a beach bag for on the balcony. Don't judge, we were never unruly. I now know all of the words to the country song Beer Run.

The only cocktail that was not included in the UP was the famed, and my all time favorite Cucumber Martini from the specialty restaurants in Central Park. I just paid $2 for each one. I was in heaven. I would buy the package again in a heartbeat but I don't want to see any form of alcohol in quite awhile. My liver could be served as a pate, even 6 days later. Everyone have fun on their cruises.

Costa - All Inclusive beverages*: includes a selection of alcoholic (including draft beer and wine) and soft drinks by the glass and coffee, with the exception of Mini Bar products and premium brands.

- Adults only: € 23.50 per day, including service charges.

I do know the Costa Beverage Package includes all your wine at dinner and lunch, cocktails, specialty coffee, bottled water - just about everything except the top-drawer 30 year old Scotch. For a 10 day Costa Luminosa cruise out of Miami last February the full package cost us $519 US.

Now I'm looking at booking the 11 day Legend of the Seas trip from FLL and don't see any value in paying $1,210 for the drinks package.

This huge pricing difference doesn't make any sense!

Sorry if I missed this--does that $55 total include the gratuities? On our Celebrity cruise the published package price had 15% added on upon the purchase of the package. Thanks.

Probably a stupid question - I'm assuming this would include bar service in the showroom as well?? It's a 'bar' and I didn't see it on the list of excluded things, so I'm guessing it's OK. But I thought I'd check!!

Thanks in advance!
