We are moving to Florida from MN in October....finally no more flying to get to the cruise port.

Just wondered how to find great deals on last minute cruises?

Carnival offers "Pack-n-Go" rates usually 1-3 weeks prior to some of their cruises. You pick the category they pick the room.

For Carnival's 'Pack 'n go' you do not pick the category, Carnival does. You may choose inside or out side. You have to wait until just a few days before the cruise to be assigned a cabin. We didn't like the location of our inside cabin and were able to switch to an outside on our favorite deck for $118 more. If you book through Carnival you go through them. If you used a TA, the TA has to contact them for the change.

Not only will it be easier to take a cruise but no more snow as well!

As example, RCI from time to time offers state of residency discounts available anytime for a booking - not just last minute. They have a section on their website under "making a reservation" that will list all upcoming cruises offering a residency discount at the time. Or you can do mock bookings on line for dates and ships you are interested in to see if there is a discount involved.

Based on proximity to the ports, FL is a state that frequently offers that and often with attractive rates. They then also tend to offer good rates close to sailing date, in particular for FL residents. Contact a TA or simply go to the website for dates and itineraries that you would be interested and the rates are readily available.

Another smart couple moving to the Sunshine state, which this past winter was the ONLY state that had no snow. Just stay southeast or southwest. The further south the better.

Yup, cruises are real close down here! We're 30-40 minutes from FLL and 60 min from MIA.

Hardly! We had crazy blizzards and ice storms up in the panhandle this year. Counties were having to buy bags of rock salt from grocery stores for the roads because it's not something we keep on hand. IIRC, this was the first year all 50 states had snow on the ground.

Here in Central Florida we had a long, cool winter but like usual didn't get below freezing.

Welcome to Florida. We have lived here for 30 years and been on over 80 cruises. You can get to almost anyplace on the planet by ship from Florida. Five ports from Jacksonville to Miami, with Tampa on the west coast. And, Yes, you can throw away that snow shovel. Weeds replace the snow down here.

I am incredibly JEALOUS! What I wouldn't do to get out of the snow (especially last winter) and be able to cruise more! Congratulations!

Lauri

Thank you....we are pretty excited about getting out of the snow and freezing cold! Moving to beautiful Bonita Springs, just south of Naples!
