Rare babs135 Posted June 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2014 I have a dress that DH absolutely loves me to wear but I'm reluctant to take it with me on our upcoming cruise as it creases just by looking at it! (Almost enough to make me sorry I bought it :( ) I'd dearly love suggestions as to the best way to pack it.
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2014 It does help if you put a plastic cover on it that you would get if you had it dry cleaning. However, the reality is that if it is a dress that creases easily it will likely crease no matter what you do and your best bet would be to have it pressed after you arrive on the ship. Krazy Kruizers Posted June 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2014 You could try using tissue paper and then cover it with plastic bags like the ones you get at the dry cleaners. It will cost you to have it ironed on the ship. Me -- I would leave the dress at home. I want things to be simple on a ship.
KirkNC Posted June 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2014 The plastic will help. Can you have it pressed onboard? The ship has that service just not sure if the dress can be pressed.

It works pretty well but still can use a touch up after unpacking.I haven't tried rolling it but that might work instead of folding.
cb at sea Posted June 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2014 Get another dress that travels well...something in a slinky jersey or with sequins or other embellishments...those garments do NOT wrinkle. You can ball them up, and they hang out just fine! Save the dress you have for something at home, where it doesn't need to be packed!
ducklite Posted June 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2014 Forget trying to pack it. You'll make yourself crazy. Toss it in the suitcase and spend the $4 to get it ironed when you get on board. Seriously, don't drive yourself nuts over a problem easily solved for pocket change.
SparkleBee Posted June 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2014 roll it. if it's wrinkled have it ironed. easy! I would not skip the dress if it would make hubby happy.
georgia girl16 Posted June 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 23, 2014 I agree with the others, pack it and have it pressed on the ship.
SadieN Posted June 23, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 23, 2014 You could try this sequence Hangar Plastic Dress Plastic Last thing packed, first thing hung up. Hang in hot steamy bathroom. Personally I'd just wear a different dress. Don't want to stress on vacation.
