can I do a B2B... one in Miami and the other out of Lauderdale?

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of booking a cruise out of Miami gets back on Nov. 8th... then book the Oasis out of Fort Lauderdale that leaves the same day.... Can I safely do that? Thanks

Will you have your own car? It's about a 40 minute drive from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale. Assuming you're off the ship around 9:00-9:30 you should be through customs and on the road by 10:15 or so. You need to be on board 90 minutes before the 5 PM sail time (around 3:30 PM). I would think you'd be there in plenty of time.

Don't see why not you will be off the first cruise by 10.30 am at the latest and boarding doesn't start much before 11.00 am and as has been said it's about a 30-40 mins drive between the two ports.

You will find taxis / cabs on the jetty. The second cruise most likely won't be sailing until 4.30ish normally with a boarding time up to about 3pm.

yes, I've done that (almost) scenario. We actually waited to get off the ship later and had a service (SAS) take us up to the other port. The timing was perfect, we were one of the first to board the ship in Ft. Lauderdale. It's a great way to combine the shorter cruise out of Miami with another.

You're really just booking two trips, so it is completely doable. Takes away some of the convenience of a standard B2B because you will have to completely pack and move 30 minutes up the road, but can certainly be done timing wise without any problem (unless the first ship is delayed for some reason, which is pretty unlikely).

It's a drag switching ships, but you have plenty of time. You'll miss out on some of the "stay on the ship" benefits like the lunch, not having to pack if you don't switch rooms, and time on the ship when other's haven't boarded yet.

Still, two cruises in a row is still a pretty sweet deal (or if you can afford it a suite deal).

We had an almost exact experience. Got off Majesty in Miami, had a private car take us to the port in FLL, and was the first guests on Enchantment right after a wedding party. It was awesome!!! I say GO FOR IT!!!

We've done this also. Actually with two different cruise lines. Got off the Norwegian Epic in Miami and went directly to the Oasis in Ft. Lauderdale. Best bet is to arrange in advance for a private car service to meet you at one ship and drop you off at the terminal of the other ship. Was around $90., as I recall.

Our idea was to sail on the two largest ships in the world - at that time they were the Epic and Oasis. And for whatever it's worth, Oasis is ten times better than the Epic.

We did this recently - Adventure of the Seas in Miami to Royal Princess in Port Everglades.

A couple of years ago you could get SAS transportation to take you from port to port. Now, however, one can get SAS from either port to either airport but they do not run port to port. We used SAS from Port of Miami to Ft Lauderdale airport ($40) and then picked up a van to Port Everglades ($20); prices for two people. If there is a next time, we will hire a private car for approximately $100.

Timing is not an issue. We were last off the Adventure and boarding had just started when we got to the Royal Princess.

We did this, too, and also used SAS. They picked us up with their airport drop-offs, and dropped us off at the other port to pick up their next set of airport people. Easy.

Yes, I would pre-arrange transportation.

The last several B2B we've done, there was no lunch or any other special event. The Monarch in 2012, they escorted us to the terminal and then promptly forgot about us until someone complained that they needed their medication.

We recently did something similar, but we had our own car. We did two weeks on the Independence in FLL, then got off and drove to Port Canaveral (3 1/2 hours) and boarded Freedom by 1:00. It was great. We'll do that again....it was so easy.

I would suggest Sergio to pick you up in Miami and take you to the Lauderdale port. His # is 786-514-7020. We use him everytime we are in the Mia/FLL area. His car is always clean and nice. He will schedule a time with you to pick you up off your ship in Miami.

Tell him Tim from Southern Illinois told you about him. You might want to ask him about our trip after a Heat/Pacers playoff game. He is a lot of fun and VERY NICE.
