Coochuck Posted July 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2014 We have loved the Diamond Lounges, and was wondering with the advent of 'Drink Coupons', will we be required to present our Key Cards which are preloaded with 3 drinks nightly in the lounge, or will it be business as usual in the Lounges? i.e. get our drinks and tip our servers generously? We have 3 cruises lined up, the Allure next month, followed by the Serenade the new Quantum. Just wondering.. Thanks

leaveitallbehind Posted July 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 4, 2014 Yes. Watching THE MOST AMAZING lightning display INSIDE a cloud. We had the same experience last July! Very intense - but magnificent - lightning display on both sides of the Bay, but never hit us with any rain. Travel home safe tomorrow!

CP3o Posted July 4, 2014 #13 Share Posted July 4, 2014 I think we will know RCI's intentions with the DL after the Oasis completes her drydock this fall. I can't see them getting rid of it but wouldn't be shocked if they scan cards at some point to limit to 3 drinks. It might keep pax from camping out there. CP3o Posted July 4, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 4, 2014 If you tip to generously, you are just paying for the drinks. :D Yep but knowing $ going to hard working server feels better than thinking of it going to RCCL profits for overpriced drink. It's nice when can make someone happy for a buck.
Midwest Sunseeker Posted July 4, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 4, 2014 We just became diamond on the last cruise. How much to do you tip and when in the DL? Daily, every drink, at the end of cruise? Thanks!
delirious9876 Posted July 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 4, 2014 If you tip to generously, you are just paying for the drinks. :D Exactly, which is why it seems a bit strange to me, tipping for D & D+ drinks ???????
ARCruisinNana Posted July 4, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 4, 2014 To answer your question, some people tip by the drink, others tip at the end of the week. The drinks are free, service.... I prefer to tip each day, $1 or so per drink, because sometimes the servers change during the week. Also, by tipping at the beginning, you will probably get better service, unless they already know you:)

pinkrosesdeb Posted July 4, 2014 #21 Share Posted July 4, 2014 We always tip at the end of the cruise. Whether its concierge lounge or diamond lounge we tip our regular servers and the concierge. The vouchers are nice when you are cruising with someone who is not entitled to one of the lounges. Or if the lounges are so crowded you can't or don't want to go in. BARNET Posted July 4, 2014 #23 Share Posted July 4, 2014 Royal have spent a lot of money fitting Diamond lounges recently during it's refits plan to different ships, so IMO the lounges are here to stay reason in hope that diamond and above will use these lounges and not the CL's which become over crowded, my understanding is the drinks on sea pass cards allow D & D+ to enjoy free drink with family and friend in a different bar away from the lounge. Does this not also allow a D and D+ to take a drink to diner if on 8.30 dining or to go to a bar outside the lounge and get that last free drink. Have been on cruise where one night you can walk out with a drink and others you get stop. .
Priusprof Posted July 4, 2014 #24 Share Posted July 4, 2014 We generally tip the servers at the end of the cruise. Some people feel more comfortable doing the tipping as they go along.Generally, I don't carry any money when on board unless I'm headed for the casino. Onto the drinks being loaded onto the seapass. I think that it is a great additional perk. The majority of everyone on board the ship is not D, D+, or Pinnacle. The idea that now you can actually get a comp drink around the ship and have a drink with non senior C&A members is really good. Sometimes the Concierge Lounge gets really crowded. On our recent T/A on Brilliance there were 400 Diamond, 300 D+, 35 Pinnacles and the Suite people. They used the Safari Club as an alternative venue and I heard no complaints. If the free drinks spreads out the crowd then that's more better as far as I'm concerned. Let's, just this once, give RCCL kudos for a new perk instead of sowing the seeds of doubt about their nefarious and hidden agenda. It's still business as usual in the CL and DL. I have not heard about them closing down any benefits on Celebrity even though I don't track it that closely. So until there is some formal announcement lets not just imagine something negative is about to happen and enjoy the new benefit when it is finally fully implemented. There was a time it was not allowed but seems it is fine now......we ask.
