Rare markeb Posted July 6, 2014 #26 Share Posted July 6, 2014 They had 15 year old Barbancourt last year in St. Thomas. $25/2 bottles. Amazing rum!
fitsea Posted July 6, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted July 6, 2014 $25 for two bottles?! A steal! Was so that the 3 star or 5 sat, do you recall?
Rare markeb Posted July 6, 2014 #28 Share Posted July 6, 2014 $25 for two bottles?! A steal! Was so that the 3 star or 5 sat, do you recall? I'd have to dig the second bottle out and look. Good question. Either way, it was pretty amazing!
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 6, 2014 #29 Share Posted July 6, 2014 Guess we are not adventurous -- we stick with what we drink at home -- Grey Goose.
Velvetwater Posted July 6, 2014 #30 Share Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) Not really sure which drinks are common stateside but hubby and I are planning on drinking Cayman's standard beer 'Caybrew' and the flavoured rums on the island...I think its blackbeard's rum we were told to try for flavoured Rum but Seven Fathoms is reportedly the famous one. Thats the only Carribean port we are visiting so cannot help you with others. Edited July 6, 2014 by Velvetwater
slidergirl Posted July 6, 2014 #31 Share Posted July 6, 2014 How about looking for some Cuban rum? Havana Club… Onboard, the Ultimat vodka is the best, to me. A nice smooth combination of both grain and potato. The rest of the vodkas are rather "pedestrian" and really only good for mixing. Yes, that includes Grey Goose, Stoli, etc… Just my opinion. If you're ever in Las Vegas, hit up the Red Square bar in the Mandalay Bay hotel. Amazing curated list of vodkas!!!!
fitsea Posted July 7, 2014 Author #32 Share Posted July 7, 2014 Do they have cachaça on the ship?
mapsmith Posted July 7, 2014 #33 Share Posted July 7, 2014 Not on the Western Route, but my favorites are Nassau Royale from Nassau (of course) CSR (Cane Spirits Rothschild) from St. Kitts, and Malibu Lime Rum from Barbados. Of course, I will try others on a cruise. Still have Guavaberry from four years ago. (too harsh for my tastes.) Last two cruises were Bombay for $24 and Johnny Walker Spice Lands $32 (tastes like JW Red. No spice that I could discern) Both bought on board (with CCL shareholder OBC)
KirkNC Posted July 7, 2014 #34 Share Posted July 7, 2014 I second that suggestion!!! A stop at the Guavaberry Emporium is a must do!!! http://www.guavaberry.com/ I agree, we went here years ago.
nybumpkin Posted July 7, 2014 #35 Share Posted July 7, 2014 Also not on the Western route, but Bambarra Rum from the Turks and Caicos is very good. We buy the Reserve, which is a really nice sipping rum.
sliderturk99 Posted July 8, 2014 #36 Share Posted July 8, 2014 How about looking for some Cuban rum? Havana Club… I'm also curios to try Havana club. Might find it in one of the local bars. Doubt it would be available on the ship
fitsea Posted July 9, 2014 Author #37 Share Posted July 9, 2014 Isn't there some epic liquor store in George Town? Think I can get some of these there?
