Best Snorkeling in Southern Caribbean

We are doing Adventure of the Seas' Southern Caribbean A and B back to back in a few months. I've never snorkeled, but this time I'm going to do it. Can anyone recommend an island (or a specific excursion) that's best for snorkeling? I'm a good swimmer, but others in my party are not. Thanks!

Which islands? St Lucia, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao and St Thomas all have fantastic snorkeling opportunities. Research the port of call boards for specific operators and reviews. Most tour guides help the weaker swimmers and stay with them. We love the catamaran and snorkeling excursions in the S Caribbean.

We are going to Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Aruba and Curaçao. I've read through so many reviews and have good suggestions, but am wondering what your favorite would be.

I would favor Curacao for snorkeling out of all the islands listed.

we LOVED snorkling with the Sea Turtles in Barbados ... We used Calabaza ... they only take 12 people out on their catamaran

Calabaza is the best catamaran we ever did. Great snorkeling with turtles and plenty of fish. Gina was great

But we typically book with Silver Moon, which is similar to Calabaza. (In fact, we usually are tied up next to Calabaza at the snorkeling sites.) Silver Moon has one cat that takes 12 and another that takes 24.

 

There is a protected marine park at the base of the Pitons in St. Lucia that is spectacular, but it was not included on any of the RCL shore excursions the last time we were there. We got a group together from our Roll Call and organized a private tour to take us to Anse Chastenet beach, from which we were able to wade out to the marine park.

Curacao is our favorite place for snorkeling. For beginners, a guide would be good.

Whilst in St Thomas, if you go over to St John to Trunk Bay, the snorkeling there is great!

Curacao is best the for snorkeling from shore. St. Thomas is my favorite for snorkeling off a boat, but most of the places you listed are pretty good for snorkeling except St. Martin.
