ImNotSteven Posted July 10, 2014 #252 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Yeah I usually cruise on Royal Caribbean and they have this policy....and I ignore it. I smoke a cigar on my balcony everynight. If that pisses people off...sorry... The worst the cruise will do is send someone to knock on my door and ask me to put it out..... A perfect example of someone who is extremely inconsiderate and cause rules to be tightened for everyone. Actually on some cruise lines there is an automatic fine of several hundred dollars and being put off of the ship on the 2nd offense. I does not piss me off in the least. I do choose to get mad over the actions of others, no matter who inconsiderate they may be. Hmm I wonder, since there is not a policy of knocking on other cabin doors, maybe if someone were to do this next to me I would just knock on their door every hour from 1:00 am to 6:00 am and walk away before they answer the door. ImNotSteven Posted July 10, 2014 #254 Share Posted July 10, 2014 It's entertaining, to say the least. The best are the ones who are actually getting angry over this! I wonder if the degree of anger is directly proportional to the number of packs a day one smokes! :)

brianosaur Posted July 10, 2014 #260 Share Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) The smell from a cigarette doesn't last 10-15 minutes either. Uh, how fast do you smoke? One long drag on the whole thing? Okay 5-10 mins till its out? I was on NCL few years ago and all three people in the cabin next door smoked what seemed non-stop. When one was finished, the other lit up. They must have been doing a tag team round robin chain smoke thing. The smell lasted for hours with a few minutes of non-stink in between. SissasMomE Posted July 10, 2014 #262 Share Posted July 10, 2014 actually...you might want to do some research of the chemicals and toxins that come out of wood when it burns.... its just as toxic as 2nd hand smoke a few feet away in a stiff wind. You are correct, and I did think of that after I posted :D

gooch47 Posted July 10, 2014 #264 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Has a smoker ever leaned around the partition and blown smoke in your face? I sure wouldn't! No, of course they haven't. But you would be surprised at how much smoke does end up on adjoining balconies or even further away. It is actually worse when the ship is moving. The movement seems to create an eddy on the adjoining cabin(s). And when you open the balcony door the smoke gets sucked inside.

Excuses are always the last resort. I will continue to be humored thanks! LOL....and your responses are obnoxious....get over yourself. Learn to be tolerant of other people...its a two-way street. OH MY GOD!!! SOMEONE IS SMOKING a CIGAR OUTSIDE!!! (AS you sail on a traveling human waste production vessiel and massive carbon burning ocean hole cutting machine) You probably get more toxins in your body at the buffet than being 3 balconies over from a cigar smoker.... newmexicoNita Posted July 10, 2014 #267 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Due to the smoking policy changing on CCL, I am now moving my cruising addiction business over to NCL. I have always been a courteous smoker no matter where I am at, so if you are on a balcony next to me, I am approachable:D. I have also read of the great casino perks the NCL offers, which is a bonus since we love to spend lots of time in the casino:eek:. I am sure that other CCL smokers will also be coming this way. Thanks to the poster on the CCL board that said "COME ON OVER TO NCL"... Here I am and thanks for the invite:D We have been very busy the past week or so, thus I haven't been on CC and am just now seeing your post. I have to admit I have mixed feeling. I am an X smoker so understand full heartedly smokers rights and yes, they should have them. I also have never had a problem with anyone smoking on a balcony near us and had the smoke wander onto our balcony, but so many others say they have, there must be some truth to the claim. I hope you become a true and loyal NCL cruiser, but don't expect the smoking policy that is now in effect to exist much longer. Almost all the lines are going with no smoking on balconies. I don't understand why they can't have part of the ship balconies smoking and part non smoking. What would be so hard about that? Both sides have to realize each has rights. PittsburghGirlee Posted July 10, 2014 Author #268 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Thank you and you are correct on all accounts...I am truly on the fence about this after I have cooled down for a few days...but I would still love to try NCL as I heard great things about the casino perks..again... CasinoCruzGirl Posted July 10, 2014 #269 Share Posted July 10, 2014 I have come to the conclusion that there are some people on here that would go to the opening of an envelope. They have nothing to contribute to any thread but cannot help themselves from typing something. You will find their name in every thread, on every subject. Me??? I only comment on Pro-smoking threads and threads or when I can actually give someone useful information. Does this resemble you? :o I know exactly who your talking about

luvtheships Posted July 10, 2014 #271 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Quick question .. Those of you that cant stand the smell of smoke..Where do you stand on Pot ? Since it appears to be accelerating at rate never seen before due to its new legal status in many states. For a country that seemed to be backing away from smoking this may reverse that trend.. Of course they would need to bring back the midnight buffet :p Actually as a boomer who came of age in the 1970s I am good with it Haven't smoked it more than 3 or 4 times in my life and that would have been 40 years ago. Lol Dh and I are waiting until our baby is of legal age because we recognize our responsibility and would never chance it now But oh boy wait until we are empty nesters!!! sjbdtz Posted July 10, 2014 #274 Share Posted July 10, 2014 Why are a lot of the non smokers so nasty??? I don't get it. It's all the people promising to blow smoke in their faces, I'll bet.... All you need to do is to go to evidenced based medical sites such as CINAHL and you will find valid up to date PROOF I am a cardiology nurse practitioner and see it daily. So please get your facts together Cinahl is just Ebsco corporation's economic judgement as to which nursing journals should be in their database. Many of these titles are not even peer-reviewed, let alone evidence-based. And they're all tinged by their association with a single aggregator. If you had said to check PubMed, or a Discovery Service.... .
